Anyone ever got the message below when programming a "new" key fob? The battery in the fob is from a known working fob, all of the directions at the start of this thread were followed and all the wiring double checked. I suspect the "new" fob I got off eBay was either used (can't find a way to validate this on my own) on another truck or it's faulty. I can hold it to the push to start button and the EVIC tells me it's not programmed. I also made sure to get everything but my tablet out of the cab of my truck to avoid any possible interference.

Did you try again, Only one key in the cab?
I only have one key to try and program till Saturday. Ordered another from Benny on the off chance I had issues with my eBay purchased OEM key fob

I had a sneaking feeling that was the case. I also considered it might have been programmed to another vehicle in the past as the key that came with it was already cut. I've been trying to find a way to see if I could confirm that was the case or not.

AlfaOBD confirms it because the unlock signal belongs to some other RF Hub, therefore it doesn’t recognize you pressing the unlock button when it prompts you to, which is why it’s “waiting for key”.

The known working Amazon aftermarket fob from the link in the first post is still available to buy.

Makes sense. I was asking because the seller on eBay is trying to convince me that it's an issue with my truck or the methods used to attempt the programming and telling me to go to the dealer. I was hoping there might be something simple for the seller to see to prove to him that it's the fob, not me, Alfa or my truck. Weird thing about that too is he mentioned it "wasn't programmed to a different vehicle" and I never even mentioned that in my original message to him which makes me wonder if the guy knew it or not.

I have one coming from Benny, which I assume is just as good as the one you've listed on Amazon, and will attempt the programming of that fob. If I can't get that one to take either, I'll grab the Amazon one. If it does take, i'm for sure getting my money back from the eBay seller.

What did he say when you asked him about the key that was already cut!? To me that is a dead giveaway that it was used before.

So I am coming back with my tail between my legs. I went back over everything I did and found that I had pinned the center console incorrectly in the plug. After fixing it, I was able to program the key and get my truck started. I think though I might
have found a way to program the PIN to the RF hub.

When I got the key programmed, I got so excited and kept moving on with the process. I forgot to use the 0000 PIN and used the old one in my original RF hub. When I tried to do something that asked for my PIN, the 0000 would not work but my old one did.

That’s what you’re supposed to do. You use your old pin when programming the fobs and when resetting the rf hub. For whatever reason some people have had issues using their old pin and have used 0000 to get it to work but I’ve done a few installs and have never had that problem.

"Key Programming Procedure Failed
Programming Step: Waiting for key"
When I installed keyless N go in my 2018 BigHorn I purchased one used OEM Ram branded fob from a well known locksmith company on eBay. I also purchased a two pack of cheap Amazon knockoffs. The first fob I programmed was the OEM fob and it worked flawlessly. Being the impatient guy I am I excitedly programmed an Amazon fob and it too worked flawlessly. Time for the third fob and it failed with the same message you received. I immediately tried to program it again and again the same message. I went in the house to contact Amazon about a single replacement. About an hour later I grabbed what I thought was the failed fob and went out in the garage to try it again. I pressed the lock button and the doors locked. Dummy me grabbed the wrong fob so I went inside and got the other one. When I touched the door handle the door unlocked. I thought I was losing my mind because I again brought the wrong key. Then I tried both Amazon fobs and to my surprise they both worked. Everything I’ve read and heard about AlfaOBD is to go slow and allow plenty of time for changes to register. I’ll assume I programmed the three fobs too quickly and after waiting an hour the RF hub and BCM had time to register the changes. The fob still works perfectly three years later.
