I have never been a fan of externally mounted antennas and rarely ever listen to FM radio. With numerous other makes I have owned in the past delete plugs were readily available. I spent some time searching with only being able to find stubby and bullet shaped antenna's. I decided to take a chance on purchasing a delete plug that was for the 97-09 Ram 1500. I figured worst case scenario I would take a heat gun and various other tools to make it fit correctly. To my surprise it plugs right in and fits correctly. So for those of you interested in deleting it, the part number and 6 easy steps:
5600-6990-AB PLUG-ANTENNA HOLE
Step 1
Remove passenger side fender liner
Step 2
Unscrew antenna and antenna trim ring
Step 3
Push antenna through fender and fish back up into engine compartment by ECU
Step 4
Cut antenna shorter with bolt cutters/hacksaw
Step 5
Zip tie both the antenna and base to truck to stop it from rattling around
Step 6
Put fender liner back and insert plug
Step 7 (optional)
Buff out marks left from antenna trim (it was late so I didn't do this yet)
