Found this thread last night and after a TON of reading I think I understand what is needed to upgrade my 2015 Ram 1500 to allow CarPlay. But the local salvage yard is asking a question that has me stumped. Do I want the UDV, UAV, or UCV option. I seem to remember UAV from my reading, but cannot find it again in the 200+ pages of this thread. Once I get the right screen from the salvage yard, I plan to order the media hub and adapter cable (from Mpgrimm2 - right?). I’ve also already asked a friend with a 3d printer to print the adapter plate. Anything else I’m missing if you don’t mind me asking??? Thanks, Steve.

None of the above. You want a UAQ (w/nav) or a UAS (without nav). The 2021 options that are being listed are for 5th Generation Rams. Try searching for 2018, it's possible their GUI is poor and limiting your selections but once a part type is selected the interchange database backing it will show you radios from multiple (compatible) years.

Ok. And in hindsight it looks like that salvage yard was actually showing just the screen. When looking at the 2018 complete radio its much more expensive and unclear if its the MY18 radio. Any suggested current sources and prices for the correct unit? Thanks again, Steve.

I got mine from fleabay. I looked for a while and found a large scale operation that had one priced kind of high and had it for quite sometime. I made an offer I didn't think they'd accept and they did so I grabbed it.

Send me a PM and I'll show you how to find one at a good price from the salvage yards.

I upgraded my 2018 to a UAS. I used one out of a 2019 that I found in www.car-part.com and for pre 2018 you need a harness. I would avoid the 2018 units, they had problems with delamination. Units from Classics through this year should work. I see another person is helping you, they should get you set right with their knowledge. Good luck.

I am interested in purchasing parts necessary to upgrade my 2018 Ram 1500 originally equipped with a 5.4 radio and 7 speed HVAC. I have a 8.4 UAQ radio P/N 68417861AG from a 2020 Gladiator and USB hub that works for CarPlay. I currently have no way to control the volume. I am trying to figure out how to order from https://www.m2mods4ram.com/4th-gen-ram-radio-upgrade
The request quote link doesn’t seem to be working.

I previously order a 2014-2018 Factory Ram Truck 8.4 Radio Bezel Upgrade Kit for 4 & 7 Speed AC from Infotainment. Nothing except the hazard light function worked on the climate control bezel. The volume, tune, and climate controls functions did not work. There are also no lights on the climate control bezel. I was able to control the climate controls through the radio. To me it was an issue with the bezel or wiring harness. The technician from Infotainment blamed the radio. I believe if it was the radio the bezel would have controlled the HVAC and the radio would not have been able to. I requested a refund.

Is the bezel would be able to control the HVAC independently of the radio. I believe I would need the bezel, HVAC module, and wiring harness. I also see temp/humidity sensors that I assume are not necessary.

The request quote link seems to be working now. I went to M2 mods based on this forum and how highly regarded Mpgrimm2 is.
Email sent.
& Please see my Post # 3881 about non 4th Gen Ram 4c radios.

(Site links were unfortunately still disabled while I've been playing catch-up. December/January is a busy time of the year at the day job... And at home. Will likely be doing limited new orders during this time).

I know that this is an old forum but wondering if anyone has been dealing with the slow charging when connected to the cable for android auto in the vehicle. I have tried every cable I can, even the one that came from Samsung. Is there something that I need to do to fix this issue? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I understand that it will not fast charge but my phone will not even charge because it is such a slow charge that my phone actually drains if we are on longs trips using android auto for maps and sirius xm.

I have a wireless Android Auto dongle plugged in there and plug my phone into a fast charger.

Hey guys. A little help. I have a 2014 truck that I did a UAQ radio retrofit in. Radio has worked flawlessly without a hitch for a good while. One day I got in the truck and the radio would not come on at all. I disconnected the batteries and let the truck sit. I reconnected and the radio came back on and works as it should. The xm logo was obviously gone for a while but otherwise everything worked great. I went to get the truck out today and now the back up camera will not work what so ever. It won’t even come on or go to a different screen or anything when the truck is in reverse. But after I reconnected the batteries it worked just fine. I’m confused. I have not changed anything.

Where did you get your upgrade/harness set from?

Pull the radio fuse (under the hood, sticking out the harness near the firewall) for 1-2 minutes and let the radio finish a reset, then see how that does.
