How To: Install a 2018 4C (UAQ/UAS) Radio in 2013 - 2017 RAM

Just finished creating my media hub faceplate/mounting bracket. I’m swapping in a console from a 2016 and for impatient with waiting on the 2017 Chrysler 200 media hubs to become available. I ordered a 5th gen hub and then attempted to make a faceplate/bracket to install it without having to do any cutting/modifying of the existing hub opening. Took me WAY longer than it should have as this was my first time making/3D printing anything but I think it came out pretty good!

Purchased a 4c upgrade kit from 4th gen mods for my 2014 express with the 5in radio. After getting everything installed everything works except the ac will not run.

I have checked all blend doors for proper operation and they move to the end of their limits from hot to cold, floor to defrost, and recirc.

My kit came with with the 2018 hvac module 6836 6552 AA and the truck already had the 7 speed fan.

When plugging in the old hvac controls everything works as it should.

Any ideas as to why the ac compressor won't start on ac, max ac, or defrost?

How long has the radio been installed?
Looks like it's still showing dual zone ATC and perhaps hasn't finished it's reset/ reconfigured itself yet... Once it does, you may see the temp blend Door issue.

Do you have the SXM Button on the main audio/media screen and does the backup camera work yet when in reverse?

Until the radio finishes it's reset it's hard to know for sure... But if it still has the issue, it's most likely either the harness or HVAC module. Any idea if the HVAC module was new vs used?

The picture is from when I first installed it. I have configured it multiple times through alfa obd to dual atc, single atc, and back to manual single, with a battery disconnect and time between each try. It has been in the truck a few days and is currently setup as manual climate and backup camera working so it should be fully loaded.

Also check the conversion harness & HVAC module connectors for bent pins/terminals or not locked in/pushed out the back

What pins should I be checking? I didn't see any bent or dislodged ones, but if I know which pins they are I can check for continuity.

The hvac controller was brand new in box.

If it isn't a connector issue what else should I be looking for?

Check the white 24 pin connectors of the harness and HVAC module, & truck side connector.
Diagram may help... Check 10A clutch fuse F63. Not likely the issue if it works with the original system.

Edit:
Pin 8 at the HVAC module is the compressor control output (goes back to pin 10 at the truck side connector via conversion harness).

After looking through a bunch of diagrams and looking through my harness I noticed pin 10 for the ac compressor was in pin 11 at the harness. Swapped and everything works great.

The brown wire on this connector is in pin 11. Should be in pin 10.
