How To: Install a 2018 4C (UAQ/UAS) Radio in 2013 - 2017 RAM

We have a few 22 classics with 8.4 uconnect 5's. I was curious so I checked out the radio on StarParts and it lists at $700. Everything appears to be the same as the 18-21 Classics. I may buy one using my discount at work and try it in my 2017 Ram. Has anyone tried a Uconnect 5 8.4 in the 4th gen? If so what was needed?

Might want to consult with @Jimmy07 but I'm pretty sure it won't work from what I remember reading, at least not all functions anyway?

Bummer I thought I would be able to get a CarPlay radio into my truck for cheaper than a UAS. I am willing to take the $450 gamble if just some wiring needs to be adapted. I work in a CJDR part department so I have access to some helpful info but I can't see for certain if it'll work as the UAS/UAQ does.

Hello all. I have a 2015 ram express 1500 with the 8.4 CarPlay radio all working using an aftermarket bezel. I’m wanting to go all OEM now. Has anyone experienced any issues in installing a used 68366552AA HVAC when upgrading to the 8.4 UAS?

I have done the radio upgrade already and it's working great. I recently installed a wireless adapter for ACP. It works good but once I try to plug the phone in so I can charge it it seems to confuse the radio and adapter. Is there a way to make one of the USB ports a charge only and the other connect to ACP? I have alfaOBD and looked at external port type and tried changing to USB + AUX but both USB ports still connected to ACP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just curious. When I put the new Radio in my truck it reads from the BCM to see what the truck is equipped with correct?
How do I get it to refresh again at a later time to re-read from the BCM?

Yes, that should be a good fit (depending on your exact setup, there can still be some issues that pop up)
