How To Install OEM footwell lighting

not trying to create an Explorer 1500, but my wife's explorer has ambient lighting that's always on when the car is on. It's kind of nice.

 

I think the 5th gen Rams have that too

 

I already had two of these up front in the factory location but Sunday I picked up 8 of the T-10 style housings and pigtails from the junkyard for $20 and added under seat lighting so I could see better in the rear floorboard. Completely satisfied. I wrapped my wiring in tape similar to what they use at the factory and it looks great in my opinion. Not overly happy with how it is mounted but I wanted it as low as I could get it to shine in the rear as much as possible and in the center.

 

has anyone sourced an actual plug end that will fit in the factory harness for custom lighting?

Looks really good. I been looking for a way to add floor lights in the back seat. Where did you tap power for the lights?

 

I tapped into the factory floor well lights up front for my power.

I too would like to get mt hands on the ACTUAL PLUG, or the WHOLE footwell harness cuz my truck has the plug hanging down but NO LIGHTS...

 

you just need the light assemblies to install.. a friend of mine gets them from where he works and gives them to me to sell for him here and on ebay.. generally $23 a set shipped .. he hasnt dropped any off in a couple weeks but i will reach out to him this weekend and see when he expects more..
