No overkill when it comes to fighting gravity.

Considering I use a two post hoist rated for 6 Tons to lift my 1500 and that same hoist also lifts a 2500 CTD easily, jack stands rated for 22 tons is overkill.
The safety factor of jack stands is at least 3:1, meaning a 3 ton stand is tested to hold 9 tons. So 6 ton jack stands can more than hold up a typical Ram truck without fear of gravity winning.

Why sit in the ground, there's adjustable height creepers..

The ones from Harbor Freight seem to be exactly the same as the ESCO.
