Doing it next month. I've got everything to do it, just need time when I'm not working. I've already got the GM smog pump installed to properly vent the crankcase and fuel tank purge system, so the only thing running on vacuum now is the brake booster.

I'd already had the exhaust done once and didn't want to pull it out again to weld in the bungs. I also wanted to try the smog pump out since it actually cost less (total of $60 including pump) once labor was taken into account with my exhaust shop and if it didn't work then I'd go to the exhaust kit. I've got it setup so it kicks on when I'm at 10inHg or less so it's not pulling all the time.

Both ways work, I'm trying the less expensive one first.

I've been debating on upgrading and relocating the oil cooler at the same time and plumbing new hoses from the cooler to the reservoir when I do the swap. Relocate the oil cooler to the lower air dam opening just because of the demand I may be putting the p/s through if I take to the new road course they're building just outside the city. Thoughts?

Modern diesel engines don't run on vacuum like gas engines do, so you can not use a vacuum based brake booster like you do in a gas engine. Hydroboost systems have a much higher clamping force over a vacuum system but are more expensive. For people that want better braking power, running boost, or a tight LSA cam the hydroboost upgrade is a good thing as it completely removes the large vacuum booster and master cylinder and replaces it with the hydraulic booster and master cylinder. Once plumbed properly they do much better for stopping power and really cleans up the engine bay.
