Wish I still had my '78 F150
I had a healthy little 77 Ford shortbox in high school, loved that little truck and wish i still had it.It's the reason i've bought a couple regular cab shortbox Rams since the wife and i got the house back to ourselves.

I had one of those...89 with the 300, 4spd w/creeper gear. that came in really handy many times! I sold that truck at the exact right time...2001 IIRC..but I felt bad for the guy that bought it because it rusted out so fast right after that.

I've had my '87 F150, 4x4, 300-6, 4spd granny gear, for 30 years now. I used it last week to bring home over 2000 lbs of treated lumber for my deck.
Couldn't tell it was back there. Pulls like a champ.

Outside of regular maintenance like oil changes, brake pad replacements, and a few normal wear items, which have been very few, I've spent less than a couple of truck payments on repairs in those 30 years.

Those repairs were things that wear out like fuel pump, mainly because the fuel gauge wouldn't work, brake booster, clutch master and s-ave cylinder. Other than that two sets of spark plugs, two rotors and caps, one set of plug wires, one heater core and radiator.

That's it on a 36 year old truck.

Forgot about the fuel gauges never working.

Buddies is blue & White.
Guess he's going to partially restore it, for one of his grandsons.
Runs now, just rusty.
Weld in some metal, paint, good to go for 16 yr old boy.

I'm voting, weld in metal grind, Cammo Paint Job, then let the boy have a blast learning how to 4x4.
we can always have even more fun, yanking his dumb butt out of his fixes.
We both got Rams. Nothing better than a Ram pulling out a Ford.

if its truly nasty spot, use his 07 instead of my 22.

he he he

I had an 85. Hated that Venturi carb. Haven’t owned a Ford since.

I had a ‘78 F150 4x4, it was a great truck. The last one was a ‘96 F250 work truck. Tough as nails. On the farm we had several in F350 dually cab & chassis. Never known one to have anything more serious than a water pump replacement.

The other great thing about them is I never got a speeding ticket in one.

I had a 1998 F-150 regular cab, that in 1999 I relocated to Colorado for job transfer, that 300 Cid pulled a 1982 sea ray 19.5 boat, box full of mechanic tools going to higher elevation the whole trip to mile high city, W/ father-in-law and uncle driving it with the A/C on the whole journey a 2300 mile trip and got 12mpg, every time we stopped for fuel i would see water pouring out of the A/C evaporator they would not give it a break that was by far the best ford product I've ever owned.
