Sorry to see this, glad nobody was hurt, definitely could've been worse.
I agree that a tire upgrade may be in order.
Those stock Goodyears are garbage.

If this was freezing rain the best of tire would have problems. Nothing gets around on ice very well unless you chain up or have tracs. Even tires with studs don't do much.

With smart driving, I have found the stock SR-As to be fine in snow, but like quoted above.....ice is no good for pretty much anything. Even my Xi3s on my Subaru have little traction to stay put on glare ice...

I am unsure why such a consensus that the stock tires are "garbage"....I have literally driven on 100+ different tires and find the stockers to be upper echelon (top 15%)...maybe people simply want to justify buying new ones, so they say the old ones were "bad"?

I couldn't agree with this more, I must be one of the few that really like the SR-A tires, i don't do any ice driving but for everything else in normal day to day driving, i haven't had any issues out of mine

Looks like the damage was confined to just the left bed panel, which should mean a complete panel replacement as opposed to banging dents out. From a quality standpoint a complete panel replacement is far better. Just hope the paint matches, although that is highly dependent on who does the work. Nice looking truck. Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Best regards,
Dusty

Well the verdict is in. Just have to replace the left bed panel and tailgate. Insurance adjuster also included the rear bumper (I don't think it needs that though.) Got off lucky with just ~$3800 in damages.
As far as the tires go, my biggest problem with the SR-A's is I had 35K miles on them and they are hard miles as I drive like I stole it most of the time. Don't mind the tires. Although I will be putting on some Yoko's after truck gets out of body shop.

I just bought a truck with the SR-As on it on 12/31, and it was icy here then. That truck was all over the place. I had to get my snow tires on it ASAP, but of course, the last owner had traded it in with the wrong locking nut key, so I had to wait a couple of days. Once I got the snow tires on, it was much better. I've worn out a few sets of SR-As, but I'd never run them during the winter. We have 4 months of snow and ice here, and you just can't trust them. I've lived my whole life where it snows, and driven lots of rear wheel drive cars all year, on all-season tires. The SR-As are fine the other 8 months. I also sort of like the fact that so many people hate them. It makes them easy to find cheap on Craigslist.
