My 96 Ram 1500 5.9L Magnum was stalling and dying out in cold weather after letting off the throttle for a stop. Eventually the light came on so I had the codes read and was told it was the IAC. Instead of just cleaning it I bought a new one and replaced it. After installing the new part and double checking everything was connected properly I started the truck. It took several tries to get it going and once it did I had to hold to hold my foot on the throttle to keep it running. After the engine warmed it would finally begin to idle at around 225-250. Before replacement, even with it stalling at stops, it would hold an idle at 750-800 if I let off the throttle slowly. I have been told to check vacuum lines, but not sure which ones I should check. Also, the fuel pump was replaced last summer.
