The consoles on the 5th gen were designed by a caveman. The openings are cavernous and have few lids. Drop something in and you may never see it again.

So what's pictured as a simple attempt to recreate the sliding, flat lid over the center opening in my 4th gen console.

Makes a super "table top" if you need a flat surface for any reason.

PM me and I will share the dimensions. I used a 3/4" board but something thinner could work. The key is the 45 degree bevels hold it nicely in place, plus its easily removed.

Necessity was the mother of this simple solution!

That does look nice. When I picked up my 2023 I apparently dropped my copy of the sales agreement into the black hole of the console and once home and in the house I realized I couldn’t find it. I searched the house, the truck at least 2 times, including the console - nothing. Finally went to the dealer and said I lost it, must have dropped it on the ground or something and I’ll need another copy. They printed another copy and asked me not to lose this one. I told them don’t worry, if I lose this one they won’t hear about it. Two days later while transferring some things into the new truck, I slid a tray back in the bottom of the console and there in the very bottom was the envelope with the original.

Could be just 1500s, not sure.
The point is, if you have a hole or cavity on top, and you would prefer a smooth top, here's a solution.

I cut a section from some scrap mahogany to fit my 1500. Works great. 3/4 thick board probably best so you have a lot of bevel area fitting down inside the plastic. Make a cardboard template first. Won't be a perfect fit, but the bevels hold mine in place.
