It happens to my wife almost every time we are in the truck and I get blamed for it!!

I feel your pain! It does not help that I end up laughing almost every time - well, at first, but I learned quickly - too little, too late, though.

New Ram owner here. 2nd or third time I took the wife out for a spin, dagum thing literally ripped skin off her arm.

I got the perfect fix for all us getting pinched.
I took the cap off the rod and sleeved the rod with a small vaccum line cap then when the truck is locked it sits flush with the door panel. Unlocked its barely above the door panel. NO more pinching elbows.

It took seven months but tonight the lock stem bit my wife. Took off a small piece of skin and drew blood. She swears she “ALWAYS” puts her arm there and it’s never happened before!......ok dear whatever you say. It must have been the first time the auto door locks worked since we bought the truck then.
