In need of some help

Ok y’all got some got a question maybe someone has some kind of idea. So today I got in my 99 1500 with the 5.9 liter been running fine all day long, then got in it at lunch and started it and it started spitting and sputtering and I heard my cia was really loud from sucking so much air freaked me out. So I gave it some gas and sputtered again as soon as it idled down. Drove it and never done it again. Scanned it and there r no codes, not even in history. I was told that my ect could cause this. Is this true? What else should I be looking for. Any help will be greatly appreciated

I'm new to these trucks but not vehicles in general. Could be a sticking idle air control valve, vacuum leak and a number of other issues.
