Increasing low-end power? Stroker maybe?

Then get shorties and be happy. Headers do not affect every vehicle the same. You already spent money going the blower route so I am not sure why you are trying to skimp at this point. Your thread is specifically about increasing low-end torque......... Shorties do NOT increase bottom end, even with a supercharger on these things. Shorties dont do much for our trucks unfortunately (because you are right, the price is right) but if thats what are set on, go for it. In 6 months when you are still unhappy, itll be an expensive lesson.

Go look up some dyno sheets. Most people who put shorties on our trucks regret it. And if you notice, your links are speaking of turbos, not superchargers.

Definitely not trying to skimp on anything, just taking a scientific approach to this. I did look up some dyno sheets and contrary to several write ups I've read, you guys seem to be right about the long tube headers and low range power. Here's a good read on this if anyone wants to see some real life testing of different types/sizes of headers on a big block Chevy...

Does anyone know if the 1-7\8 JBA model# 6961SJS headers will fit 4WD models?

yeah they will. I have the titanium ceramic coating, do yourself a huge favor and if you live somewhere that uses salt in the winter get them recoated with some good ceramic coating. Mine are real rusty after 1 winter, i need to get mine redone now.

The single mod that gave me the biggest low end gains was my TC. The headers also helped a bit too , but getting the power down to the ground with the stall was by far the best mod I've done. That is however with a six speed. I think headers would be a big benefit for you with your procharger as well. Let it breathe!!

Agree with this!

Cool, thanks for the info and rust warning there as we can get some rough winters up here. Come to think of it, it may be better to go with the stainless ones instead so they can't rust and are even cheaper.

Ok, so I'm going to start off with a TC and headers for sure. Any further thoughts on increasing low RPM power? Anyone have experience with blower cams or stroking or have other suggestions maybe?

I'd bet you'd see at least (conservatively) 50 lbs/ft just bolting the long tubes on, maybe even more with a little tuning. On the 5.7 Hemi, it's not uncommon for folks to see 35-45 lbs/ft without tuning so added to what you already have, I don't know of a standalone, single mod that will net you that much of an increase without cracking to motor open (aside from giggle juice). It may not get you where you want to be on its own but it's a huge step in the right direction.

Your engine is a pump, you addressed the air coming in with the SC, help it get the air out!

50+ftlb sounds good, but not likely at this elevation. I agree though, I think headers will be well worth it to free up some flow and HP; especially with having a SC. Maybe I'll get it dynoed again after the TC and long tubes to see ;)

Anyone know how the TC for the 8 speeds are coming along? Last I heard the stall was something like 300 rpm different?

I'm going to talk to my speed shop this week about a TC, but what do you mean by 300rpm different? Are you saying something is off TC stall wise on 8-speeds for some reason?

Do you have your blower drive sized so 8 lb is without a blow off valve? I think most street setups are this way. If so then changing drive pulleys to spin it faster, [or even max blower rpm at engine redline], and adding a blow off set at 8 psi should give a bunch more low end.

There are not any good tq converters available right now for the 8sp Rams. Circle D hasnt shown much improvement with the one they put out, and we are testing an Edge converter that has shown better 60' times, but not much improvement in the 1/4 mile without actual trans tuning. Paramount has a converter out as well, but I dont know of any trucks that have tried it.

Your best bet is to start with the longtubes. Go with 1 3/4" primaries instead of 1 7/8" if your main focus is tq down low.

Yea, we are using a quite a bit smaller than stock pulley on there that is spinning it up fast with a by-pass valve, so we thought of that.

Bummer on the torque converter, guess I didn't think there would be anything special about an 8-speed one vs 6, but apparently there is. I'll see what my shop comes back with and see if they have found a good one or not.

Thanks

I bet some long tubes and some data logging for a good tuner would do you some good. Like you said earlier, at 8 psi you don't want to go any higher on boost or you will kablooey the engine.
