Okay after the success I had updating the junkyard 2015 Canadian VP4, and the original 2016 VP4 in my Jeep, I went looking for another radio to buy.

This one is from a 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie. It also has a Canadian VP4, with the part number blacked out by Chrysler with a permanent marker. Using some 99% alcohol, I was able to remove the marker ink to reveal the part number: 68184965AG In the radio, the part number is 68224537. (I couldn't actually see this part number until I saw it in the update log file. Currently the radio says "locked, start vehicle", and does not give me the option of entering the unlock code. I was hoping by updating it will allow me to enter the unlock code.) The software is 16.13.13. I followed the same upgrade steps as before, first to 17.11.07 and then 18.45.01.

17.11.07 was successful in the 2013 Canadian VP4 and the part number went from A? to AK -> 68224537AK. Will try 18.45.01 now.

Edit: 18.45.01 was successful in the 2013 Canadian VP4 and the part number went from AK to AN -> 68224537AN

Thanks again to Mpgrimm2 for the great thread and files and thank you to all who have contributed.

Well I was hoping that after updating, the "Radio Locked- Please start vehicle" message would change to an enter lock code screen. So far it has not after several drive cycles and sitting overnight. As well, usually, the radio will identify the brand of vehicle it is installed in. So far it still says RAM on bootup instead of Jeep. I realize there is probably a different thread for this, but does anyone have any suggestions?

Is it just too old of a radio, a 2013 RAM VP4 installed in 2016 Jeep Cherokee, for it to not work correctly?

Hey guys. Awesome info we got here!

I sent a message to one of the knowledgeable members in this post but figured I would post my questions here as well for anyone who might have some info or anyone in the future who is going down the same path as me.

I have a Canadian 2013 Ram sport with the 8.4 uconnect and wanted to update it to the latest software. (currently 14.25.5) I have read the software thread and sounds like I need to install the firmware from post 7:

2013 8.4AN (RA4/VP4 CA)
Possible P/N's (need verified from members):
- 68184965AK (bubbasneed)
- 68184965AG (RLK)
-
Latest version:
- v.17.43.01 /v18.45.01 Fw Link (2013 Canadian ONLY) (Update Directions Link)
MD5:

And then update to 18.45.01? Is that correct? Am I able to update past 18.45.01? I see people posting about version 39 and 40 now? What's the latest update I should go to if I want to use Tazer, AlphaOBD, Customtronix, ect..

I don't see the download link or the MD5? Has it been taken down? Can I use the download below it for 2014? Looks like the TSB says: My13_My14
TSB 08-068-18 My13_My14 17.43.01.pdf
So does that mean it's ok for my 2013?

Or should I go to a dealer with my VIN and usb to get version 17.43.01?

This is my current setup
PN: 68184965AG
Software: 14.25.5

I would also like to get an Alphaobd, Tazer, or Customtronix jailbreak to add more features like Front Camera and cargo can, SRT performance pages, Off road pages if possible, line lock, light show, tiresize speedometer adjustment, seat belt chime. Do you have any advice on this and if I should only update to a certain version or not update at all?

Thanks for any help or direction you can provide!

Excited to start my journey modding this truck. The 12" Gen 5 mod or aftermarket tesla style radio is tempting but I think maybe I should start here unless you guys convince me otherwise lol

Thanks again,
Austin
