Actually the stock muffler is a 3" in 2.25" out. The stock tailpipes are 2.25"

Now the down pipes before the Y are 2.5"

Are you sure about that? I haven't measured in my 4th gen but all the 3rd gens I have messed with have been 2.25 pre y pipe and my 4th gen looks the same just never measured it.

I know every one gets the Magnaflow 2.5 into 3 in y pipes because they don't make a 2.25 and they get welded anyways.

magnaflow extra parts needed?

So if I get the 14" magnaflow stainless steel muffler (3" inlet, 2.5" out) 2009 Dodge ram 1500, what other parts do I need exactly to make this fit if I wanted to install my self and where do I get it? Do I need to weld it or can I use clamps? Or would I be better off getting the mufflex system that has everything I need. It's cheaper to get the magnaflow muffler vs mufflex, but by the time I buy the extra parts I need that mufflex already includes, is it worth it? thanks.

I just did the 14 by mufflex.. Put some pipe seal in the pipes.. And put the clamp all the way to the edge of the female pipe.. That's what they told me at the shop.. They are about 25 from me...
