Hey, Guys. I searched the forum for this and the last post was from 2013 and I’m hoping there’s newer info out there. I want to install some kind of audible back up sensors on my ‘17 Express. I don’t really care for the backup camera in real tight spaces. I live on a mountain road and find myself turning around a lot and the camera is not the best for finding trees. I’ve installed the cheap eBay systems on 2 vehicles and they worked OK but I mounted the sensors in plastic bumpers on those cars. I’m not real crazy about drilling the painted bumper on the Express. Just curious, does anyone know if the painted bumpers are the same thickness as the chrome ones? They seem pretty thin to me but maybe 2017 bumpers aren’t that thick? I don’t mind a little wiring in the rear but would rather not run a cable all the way up front and through the firewall so I’ve been looking at so called ‘wireless’ units that eliminate the front/rear connection.
As an aside, I’ve noticed an Echomaster unit that goes in the receiver and looks like a half ass step and has 3 sensors working ‘wirelessly’ to a front end receiver. It can be plugged into the 7 pin on the back for power but also hard wired. I thought of trying that on the trailer plug for testing and if it worked well then wire it in. Anybody ever used one? It’s 200 bucks on Amazon. I want to get something going because I’ve just missed 2 or 3 trees already and my rig has 17k and not a mark on it yet. Thanks for any ideas...Ed
