I know there is a lot of threads out there, but this is for a specific intake. I have been searching around for an intake, and I have found a bunch of Companies. I'm not trying to break the bank, and I found a spectre intake for our trucks, which appears to be the cheapest. My questions are for those who have used or are using it. how is the mpg increase/decrease? tuned and untuned. Horsepower and torque gains? and anything in between. Is it worth the "cheap" price?

anything helps!
thanks guys/gals,

Chris

That's the way I tend to be as well, which is why I'm curious to see if this piece is worth the price. If it is I'd be pretty surprised and might actually have to get one

I have to agree that you get what you pay for with the Spectra kit. The S&B is only $299 shipped, has a great fit, is very well built, and performs great. It also gives you the option of adding their ram air scoop down the road to make it a true forced air intake.

this scoop is referring to the hood scoop on the srt-10 hood?

No, it is a scoop that routes down to the bottom of the bumper.

If you want a kit that will use the scoop on your hood, then you will need to go with Volant, and add their scoop. All combined that is about a $550 setup though, so it is not cheap.

I can give you an actual review in a couple days when it gets here. I ordered the volant fast fit 5 intake yesterday. Auto anything has them on sale for $197.95 which when I selected it I also received a special offer of 12% off the kit then on top of that a 15% first time buyer discount. (code is welcome15)
I think my savings were $32~ so I paid $166~
If I don't like it I will send it back and order the s&b probably.

The OP has a 3rd gen, so performance comparisons are completely different than the 09-up intakes.

The Fast Fit 5 kit doesn't look too bad for the money, but it doesn't compare to either the S&B or Vararam when it comes to true performance. It only pulls air from the fender like stock, and the top of the airbox is open allowing engine heat to the filter. The only real performance benefit it has is replacing the crushed intake tube with a smooth tube. It does look nice though.

Ah sorry I did not see that he had a 3rd gen on tapatalk. Sorry man.
I'm ok with it only taking air from the fender and I am making a top plate from some material left over at work. I'm gonna coat the sides of the kit and the lid I make with the summer cool roof liquid and then paint it back black if I turn out to like the kit. This is all stuff I have on hand so it won't cost any extra.
I haven't been made a believer with the high end kits. Some tuning shops down here (stang hi performance, lightening motorsports, engine power systems, and futral racing) all did there own independent "cold air intake kit" and found that unless it is a TRUE ram intake (and it wasn't by much more) that there is no noticeable difference in kits ranging from the low air raids to the fancy afe and k&n. and I can testify to that.
I ran a spectre kit (free) in my 10' Chevy 5.3 the quality sucked!
And yielded the same dyno results as the enclosed with scoop volant kit I ordered from the hype.

Would it be posible for me to use my stock intake, but bolt on a scoop to the factory inlet, which will drop down to the bumper? I was even also considering a snorkel(i like the look even though my truck is a 2wd) but instead of cutting a hole in my fender, running through the black piece where the wipers sit
