Hello, so I began removing the passenger side front door panel for a speaker replacement. Thought I had the panel removal figured out after reading the crutchfield instructions, and watching a couple of youtube videos, but I could only get two of the 15 clips to release. How hard do you have to pull on the pannel edge, and does anyone have any helpful hints? Truck is a 2021 1500cc, bighorn trim.

If you are just pulling on the edge of the door panel you have to pull pretty damn hard. The retaining clips for the door panel can be very tight and tough to remove with a trim stick. Using a trim stick makes it much easier. When I am in a hurry I use my pocket screwdriver to pry back the edge and then use my HeMan strength to pull the door panel off.

Thank you for your response. It helped me get confidence to give the panel a good yank. I started in the interior bottom corner ,those were easy. Moving to the bottom outside edge were difficult to pop. One good pull and it popped right off. Speaker install was easy, and putting the panel back on was pretty easy. Drivers side door is next.

Yeah man. Glad it worked out for you. When I was a rookie in the dealership 31 years ago I was too afraid break something on the door panels and I was always gentle with them. I learned really fast about how hard I needed to pull on the panel without a trim stick.

I know this is an older post... but I got really proficient at removing the panels. I can do it in under 2 minutes.

What helped me get started was a flat bar (i.e. Stanley nail puller) with a sock over it (so it wouldn't scratch).

ALWAYS buy a set of panel clips when removing door panels.

Everyone has high hopes to reuse them but one breaks and you can’t find three of them when ready to reinstall.
