In most cases, the "invoice" that dealers are willing to show you is about as valid as a $3 bill. Look at them closely, and you'll usually find padding there in the form of bogus line items that have nothing to do with the individual vehicle. Edmunds is good for options and package invoice prices, and I usually try the manufacturer's site as well as others to figure out all the possible incentives.

In limbo between trucks
Engine
3.6 pentastar
My only issue with the warlock is it only comes in a 3.6 V6 gas engine... that's not going to get it done for me... does it come in V8 or eco diesel??
There are plenty of hemi warlocks near me. more than the 3.6. the one im looking at has the 3.6 cause it is all i need, and the one in my truck has been flawless. Also I dont like engines that distroy its own camshaft and snaps exhaust manifold studs every oil change.

Well im selling my truck privately they wouldn't budge at all no matter what I said, and the bank will not rol the negative equity into the warlock. I had a friend who was interested, but he said he'd rather have 4WD. Although he said if I can't find a buyer in a decent time he may pull the trigger. I have it listed on craigslist and facebook marcket place. Was thinking of listing here but I forgot to make up a sign with my user name when taking the pictures.

I don't see how anyone can put up with all the BS when trading in a vehicle for a new one at a dealership. Incentives, Employee Pricing, lug nuts.....Really? Charging you extra for lug nuts, and the air in your tires?

And then there's the ripping you off on the value of your trade in.

Most people don't have the patience to save their money and pay cash. But if you want to know what you're actually paying, and want the best deal, Cash is still King. If you can make payments, you can save.

It's not hard to sell a vehicle on Craigslist. I've done it several times, my old Dakota, and several motorcycles.

And under no circumstances do you get suckered in on an extended warranty!

I move at the speed of cash. I'm too cheap to get ripped off.
I paid CASH for my gently used RAM at the dealership-I believed I could bargain better with cash--they wouldnt budge much because financing over several years is in their best "INTEREST" Like another owner said-if you can afford payments then you can save and pay cash. Might not be feasable for everyone-but even though my truck is paid for, I have put aside money every month towards the next one and accrued a little(very little) interest.DSC00560.JPG

Before I bought our new Power Wagon, I went to the local dealership.
One guy/company owns all of the dealerships on Maui. They sell Ford, Ram, Jeep, Nissan, and Chevy/GMC.
The only shop in town for any major truck, other than a Tundra.......
They have the window sticker on each vehicle, with "Suggested MSRP."
They also have a tiny sticker on the side that says, "Dealer Markup."

I was interested in trying the Raptor vs. the Power Wagon.
The guy wouldn't even let me drive the PW.
He let me drive the Raptor for 2 minutes.

The Raptor said, "$72,995 MSRP."
The sticker on the side said, "Dealer Markup $24,995!"
I asked what the bottom line was with cash, the guy said "$5,000 above MSRP."
After wasting our time with this clown for a couple of hours, driving a few new Rangers, I took his card and told him to have a nice day.

I bought a Power Wagon from a Mainland dealer for MUCH less than I could get it here and will be extremely happy when it gets here.
The PW has real dealer add-ons, like a 4" lift, nice rims, nice tires, etc.

I hate truck shopping!

I recently moved away from Hawaii. Too much Leftism - well, that's for antoher forum, back to autos: Yeah, back in 05 Dodge came out with Employee Pricing for da people - I saw it on every freaking TV commercial. Went to two dealers on Oahu, both wouldn't offer employee pricing. I thought they HAD TO, as franchises of the national company. Turns out they aren't exactly franchises and they don't have to offer anything that the manufacturer is putting out. The braddah looked me right in the eye and said "we don't have to offer anything, this is an island." I about blew my top at the gall of some extortionists! Then I remembered, I had a business trip to the Pac NW a couple weeks hence, told him goodbye. Bought my Ram 1500 in Tacoma, shipped it in Matson and STILL saved thousands vs Hawaii stealership prices.

Fast forward a decade later, wife needed a Jeep JK. I dicked around with that dealership in Pearl City and that other one in Kaneohe; screw them losers. Hour and a half later I was gaming Seattle and Tacoma dealers, within the day had a factory order in the queue form a mainland dealer. the things arrived (built, shipped from factory, shipped by dealer through Matson, and I picked it up at the peir) all within eight weeks. And got EXACTLY what I want and didn't get EXACTLY what I didn't want. Of course didn't get a steal, but still cheaper than the islands.

F hawaii!

I live on the mainland now.

I went down yesterday to run some numbers. they did show me the invoice, but with the employee pricing going on now i get a better deal that way. I knew i'd be upside down in my tradesman, but i'd be screwed if I use my truck as a trade. Im debating on either selling my truck on my own or waiting til the beginning of next year, and see what deals they'll have on left over models.

Another option is to see if you can sell through dealer(convenience sale)Dealer sells your truck that you traded in and you can save some sales tax plus what ever else you can get outta them..
I got the 12 thou off sticker, plus trade in value of my 2010,saved on sales tax and got them to work in a few more things at cost..Got wheels oainted and blacked out steps and there was somethin else but i forget..Oh 0% finance..
Even the sales man who doesnt work there tells me i got a killer deal
