My wife has been in the passenger seat for dozens of rides. No problems.

Today, though, was different.

About ten seconds after taking off, she yells "Ouch", and "x@%X@!"....

Apparently her arm was too close to the door lock post, and when it pulled down for "auto-lock", it grabbed her skin with it.

Cut her, and left a bruise.

...........Don't close your eyes!...you could be next......

This has happened to me. Especially in the morning. Between my neighborhood’s slow speed limit and our 15mph school zones, they sometimes won’t lock for 1-2 miles. By that time, I’m comfortable. Then bam, SHTF [emoji23]

Same here. Just happened yesterday and wasn’t the first time. You would think I would learn.

Is this only on quad/crew cabs? I've heard about this happening for years on 4th gens and now the 5th gens as well, but in my regular cab it would require a deliberate effort and to be quite uncomfortable to get your arm/elbow anywhere close to the door lock post. Never had it happen in my last 2 regular cabs over the 5 or so years I've had them, but will probably have to upgrade to a crew cab next time I purchase a truck so I may become subject to this abuse as well.

OMG! I just ran across this thread. I thought my wife was the only one that had this problem! Numerous times!

I have tried to get in the habit of locking the doors while she is still settling in, situating her purse, etc.

(My laughing the first few times it happened did NOT help the situation any, either - just sayin'!)

Happened to my wife as well. I told her she was warned to keep her hands and feet inside the ride at all times.

She didn't find it nearly as funny as I did...

I haven't ever experienced this. For those who have, do you have the windows down when it happens? Because with the windows up, my arm never even gets close to that. I rarely if ever drive with the windows down.

I have a golf buddy who also has a ram. When I'm a passenger it seems I like to keep my arm up there and hold the handle. It's bit me a few times. Never happened to me driving because my hand is on the wheel and my arm isn't near the lock.
