You need to back up and do a couple far, near pics and overall pic? Hard to know anything on that macro pic.View attachment 558015Damage is on the upper 1/3 of the tailgate. Body shop quotes me $875 because they’d have to repaint the whole upper 1/3. Is this a reasonable estimate?
Lower the picture quality of camera you are using to standard JPEG. If on I Phone, you have to change from I think extension is EFIC to JPEG in settings on phone. IF U have to use program like adobe to downgrade photo, or U can download program called GIMP, is public, and put pictures in there, and Export photos with JPEG extension and U can downgrade size that way. But we gonna need overall pic of rear of truck, and a near pic of area, that macro image is useless for any estimate.I had to crop the pic down to almost nothing because the original file was too big
In the Bangor area I would say that is normal ! Maybe $1000.00 ! To try and blend a small section will usually show a bit of a difference in paint ! So that IMO is their reason painting the whole tailgate ! They may spot paint it for you if you ask but it would not be perfect! And I bet that would be $500.00 + range ! Today a shop prefers a Higher paying job ! Where in Maine are you ?View attachment 558015Damage is on the upper 1/3 of the tailgate. Maybe ole well known body shop begins with a "M", not wanna put name, not want any issues. Yeah painting 1/3 of a tailgate is silly, easier to paint all than to try and blend and match. OP we still need betta pics than the macro U posted.,A copy of the estimate would also help. It probably includes labor hours for repair and paint work, materials such as paint, shop supplies, and replacement decals and emblems. Cost seems reasonable as time charges can be $100 or more an hour for body work. But would expect them to paint entire tailgate, not sure why they would only paint 1/3.
As you know our Maine Temps are going to be nasty for awhileNormally I would consider touch up paint but I’m concerned about the flaking paint. Not sure how to handle that myself. You would want a warm place to do the toouch up if done yourself..
