I ran over something and got a full flat today.
swapped rims and went to look for the culprit. (Hoping for a just nail in the tread)

found out it was this…

is is possible to do a patch on the inside and a some sort of filler to keep this tire alive for another summer or two?

Lots of tread left

Nope get a new tire. The damage is too long and too close to the side of the tire.

Non repairable. Don't chance it either, not worth it IMO.

I guess most tire places would pull it off and see how bad it really was. For all you can tell by the photo is there is superficial damage. Did it go flat immediately or was just a slow leak. If went flat immediately I would agree it is fubared but if it was just a slow leak the actual puncture might be small enough to safely patch especially if just using for a spare tire. If you spread open the cut can you see the cords or is there still rubber underneath the cut? if cords yup fubared.

As far as I know, tire shops or other service providers can't, by law, repair a tire if the damage is close to the sidewall, I think within an inch.

I don't know how old that tire is, but even if it didn't have that cut in it, the tire shop that i use won't even rotate 7 year old tires in good condition

I wouldn't trust a patch. Did you get road hazard when you bought the tires?

Bye Bye. Better a New tire than take a chance just for the price of a tire, all IMHO...
