I'm in California and purchased my '19 Limited out of state. Before I can complete my registration, I have to have the truck go through smog inspection. Tried to it this morning and was not able to complete because the technician said my fuel system and oxygen sensor were not being monitored. At least that how I took what he was saying to me. On report I got, it did list oxygen sensor and fuel system under "ODBII Monitors Not Ready". He did first ask me if I had had disconnected my battery recently. I had not since owning the truck. He then mentioned that it's rare that he comes across this situation. That I need to take my truck into the dealership to reset my computer. Has anyone experience something like this and is it as simple as resetting my computer. I do remember before my truck was to get picked up by the transport company that the dealership had to "activate" the computers on the truck. Possibly missing a step?

I'm guessing the "activating the computers" was taking the truck out of Ship Mode. Ship Mode reduces the parasitic drain of the trucks battery in case the truck sits in a lot for long periods. It's either on/off and the dealer doesn't even use a computer to do so(it's a combination of buttons in the cab). If it's on, it will show up on the EVIC.

I thought I saw this setting in one of the uconnect screens.

I doubt the Ship Mode is in the UConnect settings, there is settings for power off. Those are for after the ignition is turned off. Here is how you turn a 2018 Ship Mode Off/On:

Well, everything was good on the truck. From what I understand, I haven't logged enough miles for the "ODBII Monitors" to be ready for a smog test. Dealer wanted $600 to force it and would need my truck there for 3-5 days. No thanks, I'll just drive it for another 1k miles and give it another go.

I would think that it would absolutely be the dealers responsibility that your truck should be able to pass smog right off the lot. I would raise hell if it were me.

Hell it should pass smog out of the factory. Makes no sense to me that it would fail. The 50state emissions sticker under the hood should be more than enough for it to pass.
Damn I’m glad I live in a free country. I love Texas gods country

Unfortunately, the Ca member is experiencing a common problem with some of the out of State purchases. The selling dealer is not handling the dealer prep correctly. The truck should pass smog,,period. The DMV in Ca is another hurtle. Some offices/agents put the customer thru hell as they believe their charter is to assist "in State' dealers and buyers. We have had a couple of our friends who purchased out of State, got great discounts, but had to work thru the smog DMV squirrel cage. One of the these dealers is now using a third party Ca DMV agent that handles and guarantee's smog and registration. Socialist Ca BS hassle.

With California’s stringent standards, I would be very reluctant to purchase out of state. In the South it’s easy to do.
