Just thought I'd drop a post, we just picked it up on the 24th of May. It's a tradesman 2500 with a few upgrades, we absolutely love it.
Some things have changed over the years and some things have stayed the same. Overall it was worth upgrading from our 2012 to the 2024.

Congrats. I just came here to post the same. Picked mine up Saturday. Got the tradesman with the Hemi 6.4, sliding back window, and the 8.4 stereo display. Big upgrades from my 2018. The ride quality is SO much better in this new one. Only thing I don’t like about mine is the rotary shift knob. It’ll take some time to get used to it.

I just took delivery of my 2024 Ram 3500 Laramie crew-cab 4x4 long bed, I put a Leer camper shell on it. I'm having problems posting a picture of it, but will figure that out. It's Delmonico Red black interior. Chrome running board

I still don't like mine. I reach for the imaginary column shifter pretty regularly. If I only drove my truck I'd probably be ok with it by now, but especially when going from reverse to drive I don't like having to look for the shifter and verify it. I get it takes up less space and with all the screens and what not they want to put in trucks now it makes sense, but I'd still rather have a column shifter.

Basically the same truck, different rear suspension and slightly larger rear end.

Between a 2012 and 2024? Not even close lol. Only things the same between them are the cab, bed and motor.

We are picking up our 2024 Rebel Cummins this coming week. Trading in our '16 Rebel, which we love, but we needed a bigger truck for towing. I saw the comment about the rotary shift knob; our Rebel Cummins has the old school column shifter, but I'll miss the rotary. We got very used to the rotary....very easy to use.

I think that comment was about a 2500 vs 3500 of the same year - they are very similar trucks, basically the difference is the rear suspension and likely springs up front. It wasn't about 2012 vs 2024.

Yeah the 6 speed behind the CTD still gets the column shifter. It's the 8 speed that gets the rotary knob. Who knows if they'll ever update that.

Wife has had the rotary knob in her old Durango and this new 1500. It works, it's easy to use, but swapping back and forth between a column shifter and the knob, if you don't think about it or are used to one or the other (I daily my 2500 so I use it all the time) leads to reaching for one or the other before realizing it's not there. I used to do it in her F150 too, which had a console shifter.

They are now doing this on the HD's? I never could get used to it on our Durango... absolutely hated it! I find it especially annoying when you are trying to back a trailer. I can only imagine how bad this stinks for guys plowing snow. Our new Durango they went back to the shifter so I kind of thought they listened to the consumer & was getting rid of the dial shifter. It's not the end of the world but as I said it can be annoying.

Yeah HD's with the 6.4 and 8 speed get the rotary shift knob. It's mildly annoying.

I bought this truck in March 2023. My last truck was a 2000 Silverado manual transmission. I still occasionally find myself starting to reach for the stick.

This thread got me thinking about the shifters in my previous vehicles. I think I've only ever had a manual transmission or console shifter, so it kinda makes sense why the rotary dial never bothered me.
