Hello,

Just bought a 1985 Dodge Ram D150 single cab, 8ft bed, 2WD, 318, auto. 94k miles. It's a beater that I'm going to use for winters. I love these trucks (1st gen). My favorite is 1986-90, love that grille.

My summer truck is a 2001 D150 (same features except 5.9 instead of 5.2).

I'll be asking some questions for sure as I have to make my '85 really road worthy. I used to own an '86 way back in 2001-05. My '85 runs and drives but needs some TLC.

Thanks admin for letting my join. I'll do my best to do my part in sharing info.

Bryan

It's a beater if you look closer lol, also steering wheel squeaks while turning (upper bearing?) and speedo whines going above 10mph. Rusty floor boards & rockers.

some pics of my ..68

I would like to change out the side view mirrors. The ones that came with the truck absolutely suck (pic #1). There's an '87 at my local Pull-a-Part with the type of mirrors I want to convert to (pic #2).

By any chance does anyone have the pic #2 type mirrors and know what are the screw holes positioning?? There's 3 per mirror. The patterns on the Junk Yard truck were different from driver's side to pass. side. Is it supposed to be that way? Possibly PO added them on himself?

Thanks in advance. :happy160:

here's kinda the back side view of a power model. I plan on ordering these when my truck gets on the road.

as for the charger, if you have too many projects on your plate with that truck of yours, I'd be willing to come take the 68 off your hands......

Well I finally got my '85 registered and started driving it to see what I'm up against. It drives okay but man a lot of noises. Wind rushing thru the door seals, speedo whining and my God the steering wheel. Here's a YT video of my squeaky wheel. I'm assuming the upper bearing??

PLEASE, turn your volume down.

Thanks to the PO who sold the truck w/o removing his aftermarket stereo which kicks A$$ to help me drown out the noisy gremlins lol.

I'll tackle one thing at a time.

Its a tinny squeal, take that horn ASSY off there has to be something rubbing on the horn ring, and on the Speedo unclip the cable behind the speedometer and spray some Lock-Ease Graphited Lock Fluid you can get it into the cable and into behind the speedometer, the door seals you may be able to get them on a magazine called Hemmings Motor News.
