Just picked up a 2014 2500 whining noise already....

Very common in my experience, had a huge blow up at the dodge dealership. They voided my warranty on parts they installed at the dealership, and they were factory Mopar parts from that dealership. No lie!!
That was the single deciding factor when I went truck shopping last year. It was between the Ram 6.4 and my beautiful GMC 2500 HD 4x4. The ram came out about $100 cheaper per month and 1 year less on the loan. But the memories of some **** bag ram tech laughing in my face in the service department was all I needed to sign on the dotted line with my GMC.

Don’t blame the brand blame the person. Then file a complaint with the general manager or dealership owner. Get his ass fired. The dealership will make it right with you in the wallet

I'm getting ready to take legal action against a dealer for damaging my truck. When I complained to FCA for the dealer not fixing the original problem FCA sided with the dealer. The problem is FCA and this will be my last Chrysler product.

So this is my final update until I can get the truck to another dealer. Ram has told me that the noise is normal and they support the dealer in not doing more about it. I requested a document from Ram stating that noise like this is normal and I was told that it was not available. Here is the only message they were willing to release to me. I will be taking the truck to a more competent dealer. It's a shame, I wish I waited for the Ford that I wanted. Either way, I like my truck but the service is horrible. Hopefully I have better results elsewhere.

"John, This is ****** from Ram case management. Thank you for taking the time to speak to me about your concerns today, as discussed at this time with the information we have available to us it does not appear that this concern warrants the replacement of any additional components. As I mentioned, if you do choose to bring the vehicle to another authorized Chrysler dealership and they feel that further action is needed, please do reach out to us so that we may discuss further. However, unless additional information is provided that supports further action we will stand behind Keene Dodge's decision."

Johnny, its annoying, I know. I just towed 10K 5 hours to the beach. Its not going to Fail, it really is just a noise from an improperly broken in/ set up rear diff. If y ou like everything else about the truck, check to see if you can find a specialist to replace it. I weighed the option and even looked a few f 250's. I really like them, but I have paid my truck down so much in the 14 months I have had it, i don't want to lose that equity.

Very long story short my 2014 2500 mega 6.4 developed rear pinion seal leak at 9800 miles. Dealer changed seal but reused factory nut. On my drive home said nut backed off made awful noises, went back go dealer. Dealer put all back together with new nut.
When I picked it up it had a whine that I knew was coming from the rear axle. Dealer tried to tell me that no it wasn't the rear axle sounded like the transmission. I argued know y'all did not work on my transmission work has been done on my rear differential. We argued back and forth for a couple days. Finally I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere with that dealer so I contacted Ram myself and wrote a letter to them telling them what had happened. They advised me to bring my truck back to the original dealer I bought it from and they would take care of it.
I brought it back to the original dealer which was about an hour from my house they rebuilt the whole differential new ring and pinion bearings and all. when they completed the work it's still had a whine coming from the rear end at about 60 miles per hour. Before they rebuilt it the wine was anywhere from 40 to 50 miles an hour. that second dealer contacted RAM and RAM stated they were sending a whole new complete axle assembly to replace the original one.
they replaced it and all was well after that I now have 56, 000 miles on my 2014 Ram 2500 and all is good.
Good luck to you and all that you can get them to do don't let up if we pay too much money for these trucks.

my rear pinion leaked at day 1 so I just fixed it myself, rather than gamble with some buffoon at the dealer botching the job. even reused the old nut. so far its working good with no leak and gears are quit. dealer probly tightened your nut to much and now it whining

I’m glad some of you get your issues resolved. My dealer was not helpful and fct says this truck is as it should be, noisy. My next vehicle will not be a Ram. I originally was looking for a Ford and I regret my decision to go with what I got. In fortunately, I’m stuck with this truck for a while because I’m upside down on it, otherwise it would be gone already.

Before you guys swear off Ram, go join the GM and Ford forums and read about tall the issues there. Issues are not a RAM exclusive.

Awesome advice

I took special care on the way home today listening to the diff. Absolutely no sound whatsoever. I was thinking of changing my 3.21's to 3.73's. I think I will leave well enough alone.

I went from 3.55's to 4.10's on my Marauder. It now has a little whine but I can hardly hear it above the sound of my headers, Magnaflows and supercharger. LOL
