I’m looking for suggestions on a bed/roof/kayak rack for my 2018 1500 6.4 bed with ramboxes. The pickings seem pretty slim from the searches I’ve done so I’m hoping a few fellow forum members are kayakers and have some suggestions on what to purchase. Does FCA offer anything? Thanks in advance!

I use hitch rack that adds about 3 feet to the bed. Should work for a kayak. Got it from Cabela's about 15 years ago.

I could get a bed extender but I would prefer an overhead rack so we can still make use of the bed.

I guess you want to check out ladder racks. Can't help with that as I have never had them.

Thule, Yakima and Rhino Rack are your choices for cab racks. I went with Rhino since they are priced best.

I throw my kayaks in the bed, but use the racks for surfboards, but the application would work with kayaks.

Some bed extenders have a vertical setting that puts them at roof height. https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/big-bed-jr-hitch-mount-truck-bed-extender/A-p8609737e . That and a cab rack should maintain your bed access.

I've seen a guy cut off part of a small part at each end of one of the cargo management bars to accommodate a ladder rack on a 4th gen, but I don;t know if that would work on a 5th gen or leave you enough bed space https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/250-lb-truck-ladder-rack/A-p8292179e

Mopar makes a rack kit that utilizes the rails in the rambox bed. Not sure on cost though but I’ve seen them on mopar parts

We finally got a trailer for our 14ft and 15ft kayaks.
So much easier to load/ unload and we still have the bed for all gears etc...
