At the time when I bought my 2017 Power Wagon (previously had a 2012 PW), I did not "need" all the licky and chewies. So I got the tradesman model. No sexy screens or backup cameras or leather or sunroof or any of it. Just a good ol' plain Jane PW. Now, two years later and I'm in this "itch" of getting either a 2018 fully decked out or the new 2019. I've picked up a bass boat and have identified needing a back up camera to make things easier. I also like the dial and the new 8 speed transmission. I can live without those, but I need to either start upgrading my current one or find a new one. Thoughts? Is there anyone out there that has the same model as me who put in a aftermarket head unit/screen, added a back up camera or had dodge install and hookup one on their little itty bitty tradesman screen?

I Have a 2500 tradesman. I added a 5” radio and aftermarket front and rear cameras. That’s sooooo nice. Total cost including the radio was 1,235. But that said. The new 8spd is what I would be after. It is nice

What radio and camera did you go with? Was this a dealer upgrade or aftermarket shop brother?

The radio is oem...picked it up for $35 lol. The cameras are aftermarket. The rear is an oem style tailgate cam. The front is mounted on an “L” bracket but it has many possibilities of mounting. There was some interface I had to buy a “pac” unit Or something. Audio express installed it all.

My driveway is at a serious incline so all you see is the driveway lol. But it can see behind really well. It’s actually clearer image than my wife’s own camera. But not as wide as angle as hers. But def does the job. The front is hands down the greatest ever!! I can see in front of me when pointing at the sky. Reverse comes on in reverse. Front comes on when truck is under. I have the switch that I can view either camera at anytime forward or reverse.

Roger that, I can use the little guy that's already in there. Did not know it was capable of displaying the camera's. I'm still interested and seeing if anyone put a aftermarket screen in there PW...

What do you mean by aftermarket screen? A new head unit? Check in the main forum. 2500,1500,pw electronics all pretty much the same and interchangeable

I'd spend the extra 59k and get the 19 PW with the highly coveted 8spd tranny.

Im holding out till the new bodystyle.... if I even upgrade.

The only update that would make me jump on one now is the 8 speed trans. Man I want that damn thing lol.
My wife got a 17 1500 5.7 and man oh man it’s like a rocket when I get out of mine and jump in hers. That might cure my need for the 8spd in my truck for a while

I’ve got the 18 Tradesman Power Wagon and it has a lot of the options that yours didn’t come with but not everything that the fully loaded PW has.
I’ve got the factory backup camera, skid plates, heavyweight cloth seats,4.10’s and a few more things.
I’m not one that buys a first year model change. So I’ll probably hold off and see about the 2020 and to see how the 8 spd holds up to the 6.4 and if there’s gonna be a hp increase. JMHO

And hers is nearly 3K lighter than yours too. Ton n a half is a lot of weight.
@22hemi13 how many miles are on your wagon now?
I’m nearing 18K

I have a '17 1500 big horn for work... I enjoy driving that SOOOOOO much more than my power wagon, mainly because of the 8 speed I think. It literally seems like it is almost twice as fast as my 6.4/6-speed. And the exhaust... man I wish my power wagon sounded like that!

We’re going to do the egoist on hers. My 2500 has the 5.7 and new flow master on it.
