Key Programming

How many keys can be programmed to one truck? I recently bought a 2018 1500 Big Horn and found my old spare from my 2011. I will have 3 fobs, plus a regular ole key if they can all work.

I believe you can't reprogram a key that's already programmed.

You can have up to around 7 I think. 1500ram12 is correct though, if that key has already been programmed to your old truck you can’t program it to your new truck.

All that is true but I've got a 2018 1500 and almost giving up on finding a fob at a reasonable price online available in Canada. 07 JK and 08 WK no problem in the past, think I paid around 29 bucks each for Startec's.
Any place I've missed ?

tred several cheap ones,. they would not program. Dealer costs are high but they work

Are you guys sure about not being able to reprogram a fob that was programmed to another truck? I bought a fob off a guy that sold his truck and forgot to give the second fob to the new owner. A locksmith had no problem programming that fob to my truck.

It depends on the vehicle, but for the most part it doesnt work. Of all the times we’ve tried for customers, it’s never worked.

I have a 2014. I'm guessing he slipped in an unprogrammed board into the fob I gave him. He did have a little drawer full of a bunch of ram fobs.
