Hey guys Im sorry if this has been covered I have spent a lot of time trying to solve this problem ....... Me and the wife just bought our son a 2009 RCSB 1500 The key less entry wasn't working when I bought the truck so I was hoping it was just a bad FOB battery but no dice. I was wondering if anyone would have some troubleshooting advice and possibly some knowledge as to what a new FOB would cost (we need a spare anyways) ...... The power locks work with the interior switches just not with the FOB ...... any input would be appreciated

Really there's not a whole lot of troubleshooting you can do without a scan tool and a specialized tool that can read the strength of the signal the fob is emitting, if any.

Pretty much what i figured..... Just don't know what equipment the keyless entry consists of or where they are located so I can check connections and get the voltmeter out to verify everything is at least getting power .... You wouldn't happen to have a general idea of the cost of a key would ya

Thanks for the response though

You can get generic key fobs on ebay pretty cheaply, ~$30. Then just take it to the dealer for them to program them. They shouldn't charge you more than a hour labor. If there's any faulty components in the system, they will let you know. Lastly, take the keys to any locksmith to get them cut.

On the 09 it will all be done through the WCM(Wireless Control Module). It's where the key goes in. If it wasn't getting power or something, the truck wouldn't start. There's nothing you'd be able to do with a multimeter.

Sometimes they keys will randomly unprogram. May just need to be reprogrammed and your set.
