hey all. new here HI. have a question about a 2001 ram 5.9 gas engine. this happened before I put a new computer in because it would not start and still does. but when I start it once in awhile it seems like it will kick like a old tractor would do. I thought of timing but I can not find what timing should be. this engine has 125000 miles. even after new pcm it seems like it takes awhile to start. after its running it runs fine any ideas tia

Well first off do you have fuel, air, an spark? Before you start do you hear the fuel pump start? Have you takin a plug wire off an hooked up a extra spark plug to see if you have spark?

What's a "kick".... Backfire through the exhaust or throttle body? Or the starter acts like it doesn't have the power to turn the engine over for a split second?

something is off, check your plug wiring, and replace the button that spins. they are fairly cheap - $10 or so. If you find anything along the way that looks out of order, remove inspect and replace if needed.
