Well I traded in my 2022 big horn edition 1500 ram 2 wheel drive hemi, for a 2022 2500 with diesel 4x4 Laramie edition kinda stuck in the deal just heard diesel. I pull a 27 foot travel trailer 6,000 lbs a few times a year we are planning on getting a upgrade to travel trailer next year. the 2500 did a shake down cruise 300 miles round trip and the alternator dropped voltage but next day it was fine a few other things overflow bottle had a hole high on the side it the idiot light kept coming on. So it went back to the dealer to get fixed still under factory warranty. Plus it's sits real high that my disabled spouse can't get in on her own got aftermarket running boards 6.75 in wide I'm going to put on in the next few days It’s still going to be to tall for her to put her foot on the running board and get in. Need to find a way to get the truck lowered. I'm also thinking of a little narrower running board from pick and pull cut down the length of the cab. and see if a few strong hinges welded to underside of the wide running board and welded to the narrower board so I can tuck right up under the top board going to have to figure out how to hold in place when stored maybe a strong pin or something.

Take it to a reputable shop where you can talk over the options to get it lowered because your payload capacity is already reduced due to your diesel engine. Getting the wrong set up could have the effect of making your trailering availability less than the 1500 you got rid of. With your desire to upgrade next year it is important to not impact your payload capacity (PC) in any way. You probably have around 1,900 to 2,000 pounds of PC now compared to gasser 2500s that have up to 3,000 pound of PC so be careful. Good luck.
