I was frugal (cheap ******* that I am) and didn't like the $200 price tag of Carven or Moe's 5" tips. I got a deal on some stainless works tips from a guy on here. I had extensions welded on, then had them powder coated black. I clamped them on, knowing I would do a body lift and need to adjust them later. Fast forward 3 months when I'm putting the body lift on. I took the tips off so we could grind down the rear bumper mounts per instructions. Lift is done, and we put the tips back on. I had one side, a buddy did the other. He chose the right size socket, and i did not. His were tight, and mine were not. I lost a tip somewhere down the road. FAWK!
Now, getting a new tip, and having the same weld and powder coating done was an option, but by the time I was done, I'd be close to the price of a set of Carvens. Bought the carvens and had them welded on today. (I had cut the factory bell off the stock exhaust.) Cost me $120 to have them welded on.
So my cost for the whole exercise was $290 for a new set of Carvens that are now welded on. Plus the $110 for the other set, that I only have half on now.
Maybe next time I won't be so flippin cheap!
