I've heard of using the wax paper deal too. Basically you just want to try to diffuse the light to even out the hot spots caused by the LEDs. I thought I saw a picture in one of the DIYs that are out there for this mod that showed how to do the wax paper.

I had the same issue with the hot spots and found that most of the new leds weren't working so I ended up taking all the leds out and disassembled the cluster so that I could put one bulb in at a time and was able to see each one come on individually ..and don't forgot about the hidden bulb under the remote control module
