Hmmmm, wellllllll -- I've _certainly_ done my due diligence by spending the time to investigate (as best I could online - YouTube, forums) what light output looked best to MY eye! Which reminds me... what looks good to one could look like a bag of assholes to the next person... lol!
After many, many, many hours of research - I ended up with the Morimoto's because of this
Headlight Revolution video. Got them ordered up and installed and was NOT impressed with the light output on the ground (leading up to the "hot-spot"). I guess I could have spent tons more money trying to figure it out but I figured I'd use the work that others had already done on the subject (trial and error). You are literally the first and only person I've seen that says that the Morimoto's are one of the worst choice(s) for my specific projector housing...
It has been quite the opposite from what I've read -- but, I've been wrong before and am not too proud to admit it again... hahaha!
As far as what I ended up with -- the
GTR Ultra HID (Projector Low-beam) 55w / 6000k: The installation was a breeze -- my 13 year old son (who I'm starting to teach to work on his own stuff!) installed one side as I was installing the other... lol. We simply zip tied the ballast to the supports inside of the headlight pocket... but -- potato / po-tat-oe.
After all was said and done tho -- I drove around for about 2 weeks with the Morimoto LED's and kept reaching for the headlight switch to make sure they were on (I kid you not!) so I called up Headlight Revolution and exchanged them for the GTR HID's and installed those and was blown away by the difference! What I found was that my eye is getting to be like a crusty, old butt-hole and needed to see the light on the ground not just at the hotspot. So the HID's fit the bill hands down over the LED's.
Also, as a side note for anyone else reading this post in the future...
I installed the
Diode Dynamics SS3 LED Fog Light Kit (White (without backlight) SAE Fog Max) and IMO -- this was the biggest WOW factor for light output "upgrade"... I can probably ride around with JUST my fogs on (and no -- they aren't blinding everyone, I aim my headlights properly!)
Cheers gents!
