I've had my '13 ram since new. Dealer installed a 2.5 in level kit before I purchased. Has anyone added bilstein 5100 adjustables with a level kit? And if so does it work ok? Do I need to use 1 or the other? Can I use both? Does using both give any additional height? What setting is recommended?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Leveling the Ram 1500 4x4 with regular spacers is not recommended. There are tons of post about it but basically when you use spring spacers to lift the truck you are allowing the suspension to travel past its recommended limits and can cause premature upper ball joint failure and also usually gives a rougher ride. The Bilstein 5100 lifts the truck by moving the actual spring perch up higher on the shock body so the suspension geometry stays within its parameters and is by far the best option to level/lift these trucks. The amount you lift the front of the truck is all personal preference most guy use the 2.1 to 2.75 setting which are the two highest settings. If you have a choice I definitely reccomend removing the spacers and installing the Bilsteins to lift the truck. I know some guys use both but I wouldn't. The suspension geometry is explained in detail on the Bilstein sight. I reccomend you check it out before you decide which way to go.

When you say the dealer installed the leveling kit, is it 2.5 inch spacers leveling kit? If so, dump the spacers, get yourself a set of belstine 5100 adjustable shocks, most people set them at 2.1 inch lift or 2.8 max lift, anything higher, will compromise ball joints, and other suspension components. Definitely do not use both!

When I bought the truck it had a 2.5" readylift. I was unaware that's all they installed. They celheaped out and didnt put the proper aftermarket control arms/ball joints. After 75,000kms and lots of fighting I won and they installed the proper aftermarket control arms.

Now I have a set of 5100 adjustables i got at a good price. I'm trying to decide if i should put them in with the 2.5 spacers or take them out and just go with the adjustable shocks.

As stated by ilovemyramlaramie you Don't want to run both and spacers are definitely not the way to go. You don't need any aftermarket parts to install the Bilstein 5100 shocks because they keep the suspension geometry correct. If they are installing aftermarket upper control arms that's great but lose the spacers. Make sure you install the washer that goes on the shock shaft for the upper shock mount in the correct position. Since you got the shocks used you might be able to go to the Bilstein website and download the directions so you can see where it goes.
