Can you? Sure. Should you? Not in my opinion. You will need a front end alignment afterward no matter how you do it.
When it comes to modifying suspension components, you are either all in or not at all. In some circumstances I will make an exception for the rear, but on the front end spacers are just a band aid in my opinion.
Spacer allow excessive down travel which excessively wears your entire front end, they also destroy your upper strut mount and usually start squeaking incessantly after a while. You need a good lift strut like bilstien 5100 or 6112, and if you set them over 2” use angle correcting upper control arms like JBA or Zone.
Wouldn’t do it…. Tell him to wait and save up for a 2”/2.5” lifted strut instead.. he’ll be happier with his ride quality and the headaches he’ll save himself from.
