I’m kinda of frustrated that I’ve replaced one tick with another…
Lifter tick for loud injector tick through tubular headers :banghead:
Probably more combustion chamber noise you're hearing now instead of injector tick,as you'll hear the same ticking/tinging noises when you put a set of headers on a carb equipped engine.Wrapping them would of made a differance

Can you post a short video or recording of the injector ticking? I've always wanted to do headers but now you have me worried lol.

I have the v6 fan swap.
This is way louder than that.
I’ve been around the exhaust collectors twice to look for leakage, but honestly I think I still have one.

I was really shocked to see there’s no flex pipe or gasket!!
You did shorties didn't you? If so they're famous for leaking at the ball socket joint. There's a post on here where somebody used a modified if i remember right Mahle gasket to seal up that joint with their shorties,it's a fairly recent post,so shouldn't be to hard to find

Found the thread.

Awesome I’ll have to try those.
I have AFE shorty headers but I’m experiencing exactly what he described. And that’s exactly the kind of donut gasket I was expecting to find at the collector / has been on every collector I’ve had on other cars.

I’m almost certain I have a leak. Will post when I get it sorted and what I do to fix.

*Edit - confirmed I definitely have a leak on at least the passenger side.
I purchased the Mahle donut gaskets which will arrive on Saturday. I may purchase some upgraded bolts for the collectors as well. I have them as tight as I could get them (but with a short wrench) I can certainly crank down on them more but who knows if they’ll break.

Update, I went under the truck with intentions of installing the donut gaskets and to my surprise the collector bolts were loose!?

I cranked down on them as tight as I could before with a stubby ratchet so this time I tried tightening them with my 1/2” ratchet long extension and a universal joint.

Going to see if this cures the leaks if so I’ll return the gaskets otherwise that’s the next step. If it does I’ll probably apply locktite to the threads as well.

tightened while cold

Also noticed I have a pinhole leak by the y pipe (my mid pipe is welded directly to the Y cause it used to always leak no matter what)

*update - passenger side leak sound is gone, but driver leak is still there.
Who decided to put an o2 sensor right in the path of the bolt!
