Ok so im pretty sure my lifters finally failed. Almost every start up in the morning is met with noises and misfiring until the lifters pump up. I tried PUP 0w40 with the SRT filter on my last oil change. My Hemi definitly ran smoother and quieter but I think it was inevitable. Ive tried to upload a video but can't. I'll keep trying.

Not yet. It's just noisy at start up. Not the normal start up tap. The truck stumbles and misfired and gets more of a rattle till the lifters pump up. Sounds horrible. Trucks at the dealership now getting a oil change. Back to PUP 5w20. Let the service advisor listen to the video and he said need to get it in. More then likely liters.

Sorry to hear. How many miles.
63,000 miles. Owned since new. Always changed the oil on time. I do beat it like I stole it. But dam its a Hemi. Your supposed to beat on it. The weird thing is it still runs good. Its just the initial start up in the morning.
A while back I pulled the Hemifever tune and all aftermarket parts. I had a feeling this was coming. I priced out a new cam and lifters at a speed shop in Smyrna Delaware. Quoted 4500. Can't take that hit right now. Hopefully powertrain warranty will cover it.

Hopefully powertrain will cover it. I believe the 14s have 5yr 100k.
On another note, this is a quote i got from Better Built Performance. They used to be Arrington. Could save the $500 from the price by not doing a before and after dyno. Especially since you have a guy to tune. Screenshot_20180820-213949_Yahoo Mail.jpg

I plan to be buried in this truck. Would love to do a MDS lifter delete and a hot street cam. Money right now is tight.

Going through same thing. Truck has only been serviced at dealer. Oil etc done at correct intervals. Told dealer back in Dec 2017 before warranty ran out I felt I was hearing the lifters. No thats the broken exhaust bolts I was told. Now at 102304 miles iafter oil change they say I have bad lifters and the cam is bad. Cost to repair 3300 and change. Dealer helping pay some but RAM won’t even thought I told them it was an issue before warranty ended. Was starting to look at a new RAM but now I will repair. Will be looking to buy a new truck. Won’t be a RAM. So disappointed after spending 38000 for a truck, pamper it and now this. RAMCare is bull. Should be RAM don’t give a damn or care. This was my 4th Ram truck. The others were great. Issues since day one on my 2013. Not sure what I’m gonna buy

My new 17 Ram Hemi as a single lifter tick most of the time when starting cold. It goes away in a few seconds, no stubble or rough idle, very smooth from start to normal running. You guys think this is normal? Should I take it to the dealer? I now have 7100 miles on it so its still under new warranty.

Depends on who you're asking. Dealers will tell you it's normal, anyone else will say not. I went through this same issue when I got mine. The only over the counter oil that fixed it was M1 ep, Amsoil ss also quieted it but still had other various noises I didn't like. Since I've went to redline I haven't had one tic, knock, rattle or anything else, just smoothe and quiet. Others have reported good results with PUP also.

Whats weird is I was getting a knock and rough idle at start up for about a week. Could tell it was misfiring but was getting no codes. Now the truck seems to have stoped doing this. My appointment isn't till next week. I record every start up in the morning so I have it documented. I have a feeling I will be told its normal.

Definitely not normal. Maybe a software glitch that corrected itself.

Maybe if it was just a rough idle. But the lifter noise made me cringe as it was doing it. Not the regular start up tap either. I'm pretty sure the lifters where collapsed and thats why the rough idle. Once pumped up it smooths out. I do have a different sound/ knock coming from my engine. But it idles smooth now.

Post those vids on YouTube and link them here, Im sure someone on the forum can provide some insight (and Im curious as well, since I say my engine is too "ticky" but the dealer says they're all that way)
