Lifters gone on 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi. 210,000 km. What’s recommended. Replace or get another motor

Depends on the condition of the truck, how much money you have in it, 210k is not that much to be honest you could probably almost double that once your engine is replaced/fixed.

Generally Ram replaces the engine if you have lifter failure under warranty and they find shavings on the screen of the VVT solenoid. They figure at that point shavings have gone through your engine and don't want the risk of ruining it a second time due to poor/inadequate cleaning of the block. However, with the age of your truck/engine its probably worth the risk to just get it as clean as you can, have a garage do it or something otherwise. A number of guys here don't worry about it and just clean it and have had great success, maybe change the first filter/oil pretty quickly.

Several options, just depends on what you're willing to spend on it.
Sell the truck as is and let someone else fix it.
Used motor, they seem pretty common, trucks usually rust or wreck around the drivetrain.
Rebuild yours, since you will have to remove the heads, you might as well pull the bottom end and do rings and bearings, etc.
Long block, just install the bolt on parts from yours.

These guys have new OEM long block 5.7 crate engines in Calgary for $6800. If that's the way you'd rather go.
The ad has no phone number, just an address,so i'd make a point of driving over to them,to check the engines out, says there's 10 available.

With 130,488 *miles* (I used a calculator...lol) .....there should still be a lot of life and many yrs left in that truck. Assuming it's in average condition. I have an old Chevy that has 275k miles on it, and I've knows plenty of guys get 300k miles out of highway-driven pickups. But if it's getting all rusty, then??. Hey, keep us posted what you end up doing. Sorry to hear about your woes BTW. That's a bummer ..something a lot of us Ram owners dread the thought of.

Best Regards!

If I was in your situation I would just have the lifters and cam replaced. If your at the point that you know the lifters are done then the cam is likely done also. Go with stock OEM replacments and buy them from a parts store or somewhere reputable . Dont buy ebay or amazon lifters as they are knock offs and probably wont work. Check your VVT solenoid and clean it if needed. Hopefully you caught it before you find metal on it.

I'm thinking about cam and lifters. Has anybody used Sealed Power lifters? I know that the mopar units are the "go to" but thinking that sealed power products have been pretty decent over the years.
Like to read some comments, both good and bad.

For sure keep us updated on them. These days the Johnson lifters with axle oiling have the best rep , followed up by the OEM lifters. I haven't heard much about Sealed Powers lifters though,so i'm curious on how they pan out.

From what I can find, Sealed Power makes good products. I stand to be corrected but I "think" they are part of the federal mogul group.

I'd be nervous about trying them, considering the labor involved and the risk of damaging the replacement cam.

I looked them up on Summit's website, and 2 of the 3 reviews aren't good:

Modern Muscle Extreme sells a set of OEM Mopar lifters for around 150$ more than these from Summit.

I could be wrong, but I bet doing it twice with the Sealed Power lifters will cost more than doing it once with Mopar lifters.

Well, thanks to UPS, some of the parts showed up today. Once again that crew of useless baboons messed up!!! The box from Rock Auto looked like it had been run over a couple of times, more packing tape than cardboard and one set of lifters missing!
Couple of thing here, one ........ NEVER deal with UPS in Canada! There is a reason that their trucks and uniforms are brown ...... matches the stuff in the toilet!
I'm going to try to talk with someone with a pulse at Rock Auto tomorrow. If I get any trace of tap dance or soft shoe shuffle, I will commence a chargeback through Visa.
Rock auto has a responsibility in this because of their sloppy packing.
Yes, I'm more than a little steamed!!!

Well, if they don't work, there is another engine sitting on my engine stand waiting to get rebuilt WITHOUT the MDS system and its related headaches. If Rock auto rectifies the missing parts, I should be on my way next week or so.

Sealed Power is part of the Federal Mogul organization, they don't generally build junk. I'll see I guess!

I hope it goes well. It would be nice to have a quality alternative to OEM and Johnsons. Definitely follow up here after you've got a few thousand miles on them and let us know how they worked out.

My biggest problem currently is the packaging was severely damaged and one set of lifters is missing. UPS is by far the absolute worst shipping outfit in the world!!! The box looks like it was run over.
Rock Auto, I believe bears some responsibility on this as well, the parts were just thrown into an oversize box and were left to float around inside, normally there would be some packing / dunnage to prevent the contents from moving around. I am very disappointed with Rock Auto. It remains to be seen what they will do about this.
I am preparing to protest through my credit card company.

Bummer.

Probably won't make you feel any better, but sometimes karma squares up with folks.

About 7 or 8 years ago my wife ordered a new chopping blade for her Cuisinart food processor. If tove never seen one, it's a gnarly little hub with 2 ridiculously sharp serrated blades.

The seller packaged it very poorly, and UPS handled it even more roughly.

When we found it on the porch, a blade was protruding through the side of the shipping bag, and it was covered with ****** and ****** fingerprints.

She debated throwing it away, but it was pretty expensive so she cleaned it with bleach and boiling water.

Really?: the forum edits out the words B L O O D?

Lifters are the hardest part to manufacture in an engine. They utilize the tighest clearances in an engine, and there is basically not really any plus or minus tolerances,on their machining

I agree, I remember back in the 1970s when someone on the assembly line made a slip when machining the lifter bores on the slant 6. The lifter on those engines made an interesting noise.
