Wow this light bar thing has really blown up in the past 5 years. Mounting them on the roof, under the bumpers....and even spending $1400+ to put one in a "custom" wire mesh grill. Just curious, of you guys that have them... Is it mostly just a trendy look thing? How often do you use it? Discounting cheap ebay lights, a decent good brand with a warranty seems to run around $800 for a 30" bar...is it worth it?

Everyone's got their reasons.

Mine is because it's dark as **** at glamis.

I got my 30" for $90 and am completely content. Now....if I had $1000 to drop on a rigid without losing sleep at night...i probably would.

Whoa whoa.... I don't know about all that lol.. It's just the desert isn't it? I'm more of a fan of muddy trails and scenery. Again, I haven't been there.

Haha...you must be from the east coast...

It is pretty much nothin but sand and hills.

But it's all the other aspects that come along with the glamis atmosphere.

YouTube some glamis videos.

I use my light bar as often as I can really; simply because it's awesome. Essentially I use it anywhere that I'd use highbeams. Some of it is a fad for sure as guys just think they look cool. I'm personally not a fan of them being plastered all over a vehicle but they do look amazing if installed right and are really handy to have.

Don't get caught up in the hype spending huge money on Rigid Industries bars though; they aren't worth it IMO. I paid $140 for my 30" curved bar and have been running it for a year now with no issues at all. I know tons of other guys doing the same thing and have talked to guys who are in the truck building scene about them. Really with the prices, you can't go wrong buying one off eBay or Amazon.

we fish and camp every weekend between late april and mid october.most of the time we're rolling into our favourite wilderness lakes well after dark,so yes,i use mine alot.and they really help with the wide beam for sighting roadside wildlife before it's too late.

I looked at a few different ones. Rough Country makes one that gets really good reviews. I have always just kinda been a kc light kinda guy. They make the led gravity pro series that I think would be awesome. With 2 6" spot beams in the midde and 2 floods on the outer side (westin 4 hole light bar). I'm on a toss up between that style and the light bar... I've seen few different trucks on here with both. Aesthetically I like the round lights up front.... You guys with the bars vs 4 6" led lights.... Whatcha think?

(4, 6" KC gravity pro lights will run me around $800)

I'm not gonna lie. I installed one mainly because they look cool, but I do occasionally use it. Kinda like when everyone used to install KC lights on their Jeep's and trucks. In fact, I recently installed one of the 52 inch bars on the windshield of my daughter's Jeep JKU. Now if I had a CJ7, I woulda probably went with KC's.

I spent $100 on the bar and harness. Installed it myself. I needed one for the trails I take while hunting. I also travel shooting archery and go to some remote spots so.....

Mine is wired into my high beams so it gets used all the time. It is integrated into my bull bar.

Sometimes I accidentally hit my high beams while turning on my turn signal. That would be funny. Oops.

I'm surprised, with that bumper I thought everyone could just direct mount a light bar.. What made you go with the push bar setup?

If you want both it's the only way. Otherwise the light would be blocked.

True! This is what I have. Really tuff to decide on a light bar or the 4 6" lights.

I used mine this morning while traveling on the last leg of our trip home. Left Flagstaff, AZ at 5am and used it most of the way until Kingman when it got too light to use. I have it hooked to the factory accessory panel/brake controller. My bar is 28" and will light the crap out of stuff for a good distance. It's curved so it lights up the should of the highway well. Mostly concerned with deer and other medium to large critters on the side of the road getting ready to become one with the front of my truck. Also used it a lot this summer in Montana and Idaho on the back roads in the early morning travels.
