Lighting question

hey all .going too upgrade my headlights and taillights and curious if anyone regrets going smoked im torn between the 2 . i already have a smoked 3rd brake and backup lights . so wasn't sure if non smoked headlights and taillights would look right . if anyone has pictures f the brightness difference in smoked and not that would be AWESOME ....

how do i tell if mine our drl ?

My two cents....

Most people upgrade their lighting because they do not like the output of the light they have now, adding a smoked filter over a lens doesn't make the lighting better in my opinion. If you are going for looks, okay...go for it.

Other suggestion, find headlights that have a clear lens with a black background to get the look you want.

I echo what tman1112000 just said, but also I want to be seen from the rear as well, especially in inclement weather. So for me, no smoke colored lights front or rear for visibility. Just my opinion, and everyone has their own. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

For an example, I'm buying a 3rd Gen 2005 Ram 1500 and the rear tail lights are damaged and I am going to purchase a set of these when I get money ahead. They have a clear lens with a black housing with red reflectors. Clear backup lights. It still has a "smoked" or "dark" look without affecting the light output.

or the best source to get OEM tail lights, both without breaking the bank for cost. I am really not looking for any crazy LED tail light setup. Preferably dark backing with clear lens. 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Post #3, sorry I can't copy the image into the post now with the new forum "upgrade".

Check out the headlight build thread in my signature....I blacked out the interior bezel parts and it gave the look of being dark without affecting the light output. Just some ideas for you in case you were wondering what I'm referring too.
