Lights are horrible!

Philips 9005 CrystalVision Ultra to replace fogs. Used a dremel tool to smooth out extra tap and works great. Much better than factory. Tried LED in fogs but didn't like the the lack of pattern, lite up everywhere half ass rather than throwing light directly in front in a V pattern.

Million dollar question right there. There's so many different combinations of lamp choices, the type of headlamp assembly, the condition of the assembly, how well they're aimed and most importantly... What the driver perceives as an improvement over stock.

My opinion based on what I encounter on the roads every day is, stuffing an aftermarket LED in a housing that's been designed around a halogen reflector housing is, it can allow the driver to see better, but at the cost of blinding others. You are not going to scatter light in such a way that is not going to be terrible for those headed towards you. Once an LED replacement lamp can be had where it scatters light identically to an incandescent filament it will be a game changer IMO.

Another vote for Diode Dynamics. It seems that they do the engineering required to keep the beam pattern right and improve lighting.

I upgraded my fog lights with their yellow ones, and love it. Am planning on doing the others as funding allows.

Ok so if I put the 9005 in fogs that’s what is currently in my high beams. Won’t this be too bright for oncoming drivers? Or will the housing keep the beam in a uniformed pattern ? So then do the h9 in the low beams and get better output there . Then 9011 in high beam. This is assuming I stay halogen which is a much much cheaper option so I’m not against it in any way lol. When you say less life out of the bulbs am I going to be changing them every 6 months? Every year? Every two years? I don’t drive more than an average driver at night I guess.

Ok so I did some research and apparently I can only buy the Phillips crystal vision in the 9005 , they don’t make it in the h9 or the 9011. Maybe I replace the fogs with the 9005 Phillips and do HID in the low and high? I want the color to match so maybe 4500k hid lows and highs to match the crystal vision 9005s. What do you guys think? Also do I do the 35 watt hid or 55 watt hid if I do go that route.

Honestly I really feel like these lights provided on a 60k truck are borderline dangerous. I need better lighting. I am willing to spend more over time I guess but have about 400 now and want to upgrade fogs,low,high beams. Will do reverse lights after I can comfortably see out of the front. For $400 what’s the best upgrade to low,high,fog without projectors. I saw some good reviews on hicari and jdm astar lights but wanted to know what you guys thought.

If you have the stock Quad setup. The 1500's do, I am not positive on the 2500's. Separate high and low beam bulbs?

Nice cheap upgrade that really helps on light output.

Most LED and HID will just blind the oncoming traffic without helping you see much better.

2500’s are the same headlights as the 1500’s

I don't know of the life, mine are probably a couple of years old already. The stock bulbs are long life, these are not.

I don't know about the 9005 in the fogs, isn't stock 9006's?
The 9005 doesn't have the painted end and will blind oncoming traffic.
You need a bulb with the cap on the end for the fogs, so any version of the 9006.

Ok so on the OPT-7 are on sale so I may go that route. The 55 watt hid CANBUS kit (their best kit) is on sale for $85 with anti flickers. So I put lows,highs,and fogs all in 5k same 55watt kit. Will this kit be too much for the fogs? I don’t want overheating issues. I can get all 3 bulbs in the 55 watt CANBUS kit for like $260. Seems like a good deal to me.

Ramguy18 when you get this figured out PLEASE let me know. I am right around the corner in Milford. I have been reading this and that about it and it's all pretty confusing. Have not had the time to really focus on it. Compounded by the issue of actually changing the bulbs. Seems like a one and done would be real nice.
