Saw what I think is a really good deal for a set of "New Take-Offs" from a 2018' 2500.
Problem: I JUST BOUGHT NEW TIRES! I guess I can sell them...

Questions: Will the pressure sensors work with my truck? And, how hard is it to get the dealership to program the speedo for the 20" vs. the 17" I have now?

Yes the truck will auto learn the new tpms.
Dealerships are all different
But it’s the overall diameter of the tires that affect the speedO.
I put aftermarket tires and wheels on my 18 2500 new tires are not to be inflated over 55psi and factory is 65/80 psi so I have a low tire light on even though they’re inflated properly according to the tire

If your going from steel to aluminum you’ll need the lugnuts for the aluminum wheels

I may be wrong .... but aren’t the factory wheel and tire combos all the same overall diameter? 18’ and 20”? I believe if the tires are factory amd rims are factory they should all be right as far as speedo? I think lol.

Update: I bought the wheels and tires. Brand new takes-offs with 7 miles on them from a 2018 2500 Laramie. I got a very good deal on these.

They did not come with lugs or TPMS's.

I ordered new lugs this morning.

Question: Should I remove the 2013 TPMS's from my wheels and move them to the new wheels or should I buy new? Only reason I ask is they are going on 6 years old. How long should they last?

I don’t think they really wear out over time, as long as its in good condition I’d just keep them.

As for changing the speedometer, it may depend on the dealer. I know Chrysler took away their ability to change TPMS thresholds but not sure about speedometer calibration. I think some say it can’t be done and others have done it. I’d go to an off roading friendly or AEV partnered dealership. I bought an AEV Procal and took my truck to an AEV dealer and they had no trouble changing my speedo and pressure threshold. Charged me for an hour of labor and that was it.

EDIT: Just remembered, with the AEV module, I changed the speedo without a trip to the dealer. It's the thresholds that you still need to visit the dealer for.

Do the TPMS sensors have batteries in them? I know they arent necessarily awake 24/7, but I thought they used power at some point and eventually would "die" and need to be replaced.

Granted, my ~8 year old G37 is on the original TPMS and rarely gets driven.

No they don’t. It’s a sealed unit.

They do have a battery, but like you said the unit is sealed so the battery is not replaceable.

10 year rated life, per the service manual:

"One tire pressure sensor (1) is mounted to a valve stem (2) specifically designed for mounting the pressure sensor (1) in each wheel in place of the traditional tire valve stem. Each sensor has an internal battery that lasts up to 10 years. The battery is not serviceable. At the time of battery failure, the sensor (1) must be replaced. "

Edit: thats for the 1500, maybe the 2500 is different?

When I bought tires for my 2014(in 2014) Ram 1500 from Discount Tire they supposedly ordered TPMS for a 2013. My 2014 wouldn't read them. They reordered what they said were the ones for a 2014 and they worked. Not sure if they were fibbing on the wrong year or if they ordered something totally wrong. To be safe, I'd just order new ones.

I didn't like the "Plastic" wheels so I did the bump up to a set of brand new take offs that came with brand new unused tires also. Sold the "Plastic" wheels and tires and the whole transaction cost about $400 in the end,,,IMG_0669.JPG IMG_0470.JPG
