Looks like the 50,000 mile rated stock Wrangler tires on my 2014 Ram are showing tread wear bars at only 30,000 miles. What's the longest wearing reasonably priced replacement tire that has a decent highway ride like the Wranglers ? I know how to look at the tread wear rating in the specs but I'd like to hear from people that have actually done the miles.

I just put a set of Michelin Defenders on my Ram. OEM tires only had 24K miles on them but I had one of them destroyed by road debris so I decided to replace them all. Defenders have 70K mile tread life. Run much smoother and quieter than the OEM Good Years. If you believe CR they are the best all season truck tires available. Pricey but worth every penny.

I put on a set of Michelin LTX A/T 2’s last year. Great tire. 6 year 60k mike warranty. Smooth quiet ride. Nice traction in rain snow and ice.

The wet traction on the OEM Wranglers is borderline dangerous... I did a search here and some people have had good luck with the General Grabbers which look to be a relative bargain and have a 65,000 mile rating.

Years ago, I put a set of General Grabbers on my 2001 Ram 2500 to save a few bucks. Was not happy with the noise, traction, and wear. Also had 3 flats with them in a period of 1 year. Will not make that mistake again. Went back to Michelins the next time around on that truck and on my current Ram.

I replaced my Goodyears at 47K with the General Grabber HTS60 based on the reviews for snow and wet traction. I have about 10k on the Grabber's and the wet traction is wildly better than the Goodyears. I like the ride with the Generals and so far the wear seems to be good.

My cost for the tires, mounting and balancing came to $950 including tax.
