I have read the thread on the Vararam headers dyno run etc. I would like to see or at least hear from anyone who has actually dyno'ed their Ram with shorty headers installed. I want the longtubes but I might be able to get away with just having shorty headers if they put down decent torque on the lower end and mid range. I would love to save those few hundred dollars, but I would probably end up spending it on mid pipe and Y pipe etc anyway. I want good low end an mid range and top end power as well. I know I know. I am asking for too much to think I can get it everywhere. Lol. If no one has put their truck on a dyno with the shorties, then at least chime in and tell me what your butt dyno tells you. Also will it need additional tuning with the shorties like it would with the longtubes? I currently run a Hemifever tune (93 octane). I am thinking most will tell me what I probably already know- that longtubes are the way to go. But the price of the shorty ones is definitely appealing. Thanks in advance.....

On edit: I guess I should tell everyone what my mods are so y'all can better help me : Moe's 85mm PTB, S and B CAI, Trinity with 93 Hemifever tune, BT catch can, 180 degree TS, Mufflex 24", Edge torque converter (2400-2600 stall) Everything bought from Matt at Moe's ('cept the HF tune). Truck has 59,000 miles on it. 3.55 gears. 4x4, CC

anything is better than the oem crap...lol...i also want LT's but they are expensive. i will most likely go with shorties for a little extra bump in peformance. good luck on your choice.

Heath, based on customer dyno's that have been sent to us, the shorties are showing about 10-12hp at the wheels and the majority of those gains are coming in the mid-upper rpms. With the 1 3/4" longtubes, we are seeing 25-30hp (with tuning) and we are seeing those gains across the entire rpm band. I know there is a big jump in price between the 2, but there is no comparison when you look at it from a performance standpoint.

With you already having a Hemifever tune, you likely wont have to adjust your tuning. It doesn't hurt to send Sean a datalog after the install though just so that he can double check everything.

Thanks, Matt. I appreciate it. I really knew the answer before I asked. LOL. Just had to ask, though. I was actually looking at the SW headers bc they seem to be a little cheaper but the delivery time is a lot longer than I want to wait. I will be contacting you after I pay my taxes. Self employed- I never get a return. Haha. And BTW when I do get the LTs I will dyno my truck before and after. I wanna see what the difference is. If you want me to I can come to Houston and do the dyno runs if you have one close to your area. If I have a place to do the install down there.

No problem. I actually shipped our last set of ARH longtubes with cats today, but we have 7 sets on order that should be here late next week. I do have a set without cats here though if you want to get frisky...haha.

I think there is a Chevy tuner here that has a dyno. I will dyno my truck before and after. I may also do a few runs with stock tune and the ole Bully Dog and Diablo canned tunes to compare. That would be very interesting to compare all my mods against stock. I could swap out the stock TB etc and do runs to see.

Sorry to jump in but wanted to comment on the delivery time. We recently launched the Dodge Ram Headers & Exhaust program about 2-3 months ago and were shocked at the demand for a premium product. Due to the initial volume sold we have added Dodge Ram products to our 5-day list, which means at the time of order if they are not in stock they will be ready in 5 business days or less. Stainless Works has a huge dealer network in which we supply install facilities and automotive dealerships across the US and international locations in Russia, Germany, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Dubai etc.... As you can imagine we sold a few of them by now, but we stepped up to the plate and listened to our customers, making additions to our production schedule accommodating the requirements of our dealers and customers. Our initial launch of 1-7/8" primaries is going well and now we also offer an 1-3/4" design due to high demand of towing/hauling applications that require more pulling power. Feel free to call us direct if you have any questions.

I have them. Longtubes, coated, all the way to the tips.
Install is awaiting the removal of all of this white crap from the sky.
Hopefully by March's end I will have them on and I plan to provide pics, review, etc.

I think you are about the only member on here with the entire set up from front to back, I am very curious to see what results you get from them. Have you done any baseline dyno with your current JBA's yet so you can compare afterwards? I have seen where some members have the mufflers but not the whole set-up, can't wait to see if the juice was worth the squeeze.

I haven't done a dyno. the weather is against me so far for the install but that should remedy itself soon.
I plan to give as much info as I can when I do it.

Since they are stainless I didn't bother to coat them and it seems many others feel the same way. See saving money already

It seems as though JBA has released Long Tubes now also.
