Looking to add courtesy lights. Need a lil help.

I'm adding courtesy lights to the bottom of my doors. What wire would I tap into, to get them to turn on when i open the door? Iv tried all of them in the door jamb. But, it only comes on when the dome lights turn off. Thanks fellas for any help.

I could be wrong, but I think you would need to tap into the overhead light, or find out which wire is positive in the a Pillar on the driverside.

You're probably going to want something like the switches below. When installed in the jam the switch activates when the door opens. Then it is as simple as running a fused power lead to the switch(es).
