Just wondering if there's any years I should stay away from? For example looking into one from 2013, is that to old anything missing from older clusters, or are they all the same?

Pretty sure they changed something in the TPMS from 2013 to the 2014+ ones. Don't think that will work

As stated some have had issues with 2013 clusters. I had no issues with a 2013 in my 2014, but I did have an issue with a 2019.

What year is year is your truck?

2019 classic, researchering looks like possibly clusters 2013 and older, don't register tire pressure like jawzs2 mentioned

You'll probably want a 2018 and up cluster. I remember a conversation about a flashing park indicator but I don't remember the details.

It's pretty easy to sell these clusters though if you want to test it yourself.

Ordered one, claims it's from a 2019 classic, I'm skeptical when buying used online, will report back when have it installed

If you bought it from a salvager you can usually get the donor truck's VIN.

What would be the reason need VIN, to make sure cluster is in good shape, or to make sure from vehicle claims it's from?

IIRC from my EVIC search, some time in the 2014MY run, they changed the TPMS frequency so if your truck is newer, you'd need an EVIC with the new freq.

And I think it was in 2016, they added more splash screens for the 7" EVICs.

I think those were the only things to worry about when I upgraded mine.

I found thread on how to change start up screen, there was a few from 2013's for little less, so researched to see why, and yeah tpms doesn't work from that year, glad looked, I would of been heated:chair:

To check the source truck for things like market (you don't want an EVIC for the wrong country) and fuel type (gas vs diesel). It's also just good to take note of these things as it makes it easier to sell and/or troubleshoot if you have any issues.

I think there are electrical and software differences, but at some point they went from one screw to a two screw mounting on the upper part of the EVIC housing.

I ended receiving it today, was easy to Install, was able to set miles and hours with alfaobd, tire pressure and the rest synced right up

Looks good! One difference I see right off the bat is the splash screen. My branding is a Ram's head.

I've seen in another thread in this forum that there's a setting in alfaobd with 20ish I believe different start up screens, I didn't look yet cause was happy with one already set

Anyone had issues with the lights behind the speedo and tach starting to dim over time? I have a ‘13 upgraded to a ‘16 cluster. It won’t read my TPMS, only issue I’ve had besides the lights seeming a bit dimmer over time.

I've read that the clusters from '13's and '14's use different frequency to read tire pressure, not 100% sure on that, maybe someone with better knowledge on that will comment

The frequency is different for 13 than 14+. My truck is proof. Have a 16 7” evic that refuses to read my TPMS. Going to try AlfaOBD to turn them off.
